should I or should I not?
« on: February 12, 2007, 12:01:48 PM »
Hi,

I have new new ride, It is a 71 CB750 and it is in very nice shape. It has been painted black and I want to change it back to one of the stock colors, I ordered the sticker for the tank and am going to have it re-painted. Now should I go with the black or have it done to stock color? I like the candy gold!
but it will cost me 2 times as much for the candy color.

Hey thanks for the kind words.

I have a gold one too and its probably my favorite of the honda colors with the candy reds and blues a close second.

I'm not a big fan of the post 72 colors I've seen mud ducks that were less drab.

The gold is probaly my favorite stock colour - go for it. No shortage of black bikes out there (says a guy who has one!)

Tough choice.
Black looks good - classic colors look good as well..

Cheers,

Hi Cliff,

The bike is a 71' as it was made 9/71 and the #s say it is a K1. I guess? Now for the color? You guys got me thinking, I really like the Rebel look of the black but this bike is very nice and if I were to paint it gold it would almost new. Out of all the colors I have to say I like the candy gold. I have not seen a good pic of the candy red yet.

Thanks for the link as I was looking for the strip  ;D

Scott:
Here's an earlier seat latch on e-bay that may work at least I hope so because I'm going to use one on my '71 project.

Helmet holder? My stock '71 doesn't have one.
Candy red is hard to get a good pic of because the sun seems to wash it out. This is my '71 with original factory paint.

The only colour you want is Sunrise orange (as all of my 3 CB750s have that :-))....but Id go for the Candy Gold - its second best in my opinion to the orange.

Good luck,
Andy

Andy, is "Sunrise orange" the color of the bike in your photo above? I want to paint my bike the same.

Does anyone have a photo of the Candy Gold (just out of curiosity)

Thanks,
Greg

gpDESIGN,

That is Candy Gold in the photo (above and not my bike) - sunrise orange is below and is my bike.
Hope this helps,
cheers

1969 candy gold original paint. Candy colors are hard to match.

IMHO after viewing the sunrise orange bikes... that is a great vintage color for your bike.  It 1) looks good, and 2)will not be found on anything but a classic bike like yours.

(It doesn't hurt that I have fond memories of the orange '72 Kaw I used to own)

I agree that the candy ruby red doesn't photograph very well.

The color is stunning. All motor-sickles should be red!
