SC 77 CB400F
« on: June 13, 2020, 05:30:22 PM »
Greetings all.  914eener from Bluffton SC (just off of Hilton Head Island).  62 years young.  Last Honda was an 84 700 Interceptor I bought new.  Been away from the brand for awhile!

Just bought a 77 CB400F today to add to my little collection of BMW airheads.  Always liked the 400F and had been looking for one in “as new” condition for awhile.  This bike only has 1.6k miles and has lived the majority of its 43 years with two collectors.  It’s all original and in absolutely mint condition having been kept in a climate controlled environment. I plan to ride it 1k miles or so per year.  Mostly with my local geezer bike club for coffees, lunches and an occasional show.

Needs new tires, front brake system rebuild, tune up, oil/filter change and to be ridden.  I do all my own maintenance so you will probably see some questions as I bring this gem out of its long slumber.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Bender 01...I live in Sun City.  I do a lot of bicycle riding and ride from home to Alljoy all the time.  Great ride!  Thanks for the heads up on the group in Savannah.  I signed up so look for me at a meet up.  I have a 76 BMW R90/6, the 77 CB400F I just bought and a 95 BMW R100RT (last of the airheads).  Love the BMW airheads!  My BMW airhead guy in Charleston is going to build a cafe bike for me over the winter that I should have in February 21.

Just dropped the CB off to Mike at Coastal Moto to get a few odds and ends sorted as I’ve not got the time right now.  Knew it was going to need some recommissioning after sitting for most of its 43 years.  I installed new speedo/tach cables, new brake hoses/fluid, new fork seals/boots/fluid, rebuilt carbs with David Silver kits/floats, oil/filter, polished fork sliders, led bar running/brake light below license plate.

The Coastal Moto guys seem legit. I've been there for a couple of tires here and there. I'm on the left going to the beach 51.  If you see me stop! One of you sometimes has a tandem? I have a Silver Silverado! I've seen you guys go by.  I'm easy to find.
