I'm running a 4into1 exhaust and knock-off K&N pods. I've replaced carb boots and manifold o-rings and and everything is air tight. I've got 42 slow jets and 110 main jets. Bike still runs lean and hot even with the mixture screw 3 turns out. My needle is currently at the 3rd position. Is the change in needle position minimal enough that I should just go all the way to the 5th position or does it make sense to go to the 4th?

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Some people even shim the needles with thin washers,  for 1/2 a position adjustments.
