Strange
« on: July 25, 2020, 11:19:18 AM »
Went for an hour and a half ride at speeds of 50-70 mph.  Got into a town and tried to downshift to second.  Wouldn't budge.  Kept trying with no success.  Tried to upshift with no success.  When I got it into gear, it wouldn't dis-engage with the clutch.  If I used the brake to stop, it would die.  I worked at it for abiut 10 minutes with no luck.  Pulled over and killed it and looked around.  Couldn't see anything.  Started it again and it acted the same.  Said WTF and started heading for home.  After my started, my next shift worked fine.  It was fine for the next 5 miles home.  Any ideas.
New clutch pads have a couple thousand miles on them.  Bottom end was inspected when I did a top end job.  Had plenty of oil.  Clutch cable six months old.

Looks like were talking about a K1 750 I assume. Why was it "dying" when you tried stopping, was it because the clutch would not disengage ? Have you tried riding it again a little after the good 5 mile trip back home ?

Ears on the clutch have to be good unless they broke without touching them.  It died because the clutch wouldn't disengage.
Took it out for about three hours today with no problems untill just about home.  It just got harder to shift.  I was in stoplights every block and it got got worse as I continued.  I just had to put more pressure on as I went.  It was a hot day with hot oil  Could that have been a factor.
