CB350F carb re-installation
« on: June 28, 2024, 05:20:50 PM »
So I did a full tear-down/ultrasonic cleaning of my 1973 CB350F. Thanks to my UK friends NurseJulie and oddjob (Ken) for o-rings and felt washers: they both supplied perfect fit stuff!

I bench-synch’d carbs, and leak tested them, and installed back onto bike today. Its summer and hot here today…I left my aux fuel tank hooked up and flowing from noon today. Just checked about 6 hours later abd the small catch containers I put under the carbs had some gas in them. Could it be that the heat (~100F) in the garage was responsible for this overflow situation?

I had left the carbs hooked up to full flow from aux tank last night (much cooler garage) and there was no gas that leaked past.

Chalk it up to heat and expanding pressure?

I don't know about Viton rubbers, but expect after hibernating with carbs drained, O-rings may need some time to 'plasticise' again. Can be difficult to spot where exactly things leak. Blowing some talcum powder on suspect spots, may help. Tip: begin with giving it time and then see again.
