What kind of fairing is this?
« on: February 14, 2007, 11:56:51 AM »
Is it ugly or beautiful?  I'm thinking of getting it.

Wow.  That is a one-off fairing.  Rather than call it just-plain-ugly, how about suggesting that it fails to add anything beneficial to the bike's aesthetics or, likely, funcitoning.  Conversation piece....definately.  Ugly....definately.
Just one guys opinion.

That's Fugly Stealth F17. It came out of the Skunkworks in 1992. Radar reflective. You should buy it.

I disagree, it is THAT bad.
I am not a huge fan of farings to begin with, but that is just out of control...

Just think, somewhere around 1982 that was a #$%*in' accessory and it probably got the owner laid once or twice.

Personally I think it is so ugly it is cool. I'd rock that, if for nothing else just for the conversations it would start where ever I parked it. Kinda reminds me of the 76 corvette wagon conversion this kid I knew used to drive. Really funky looking but people seemed to gravitate toward it.

Back in the `70s ,Krauser came out with a similar looking fairing for BMWs.

Eric Buell and Tony Foal as well as the Rickman Bros did fairings like that around 1980 or so. They were "cutting edge" and actually work well at speed.
But the same can me said for the front clip on a 1962 Plymouth Savoy, 1959 Galaixy or a 1960 Impala. And yes indeed.....They are so butt-assed ugly that they are kinda cool 8)

Could be from the set of "Battle Star Galactica" ;D  I think the fairing provided some lift, as I remember the bikes flew.
