Sure, probe was attached to a controller box, you will have to to excuse to failing to mention that, mea culpa. I will pass on your question on complexity to the dyno operator.

Available dynos in my area have dwindled big time, the very few ones active are mostly oriented towards newer bikes with fuel injection where they tune by PC. This is the only one that would deal with getting the bike on and off the dyno for DIY jet changes, not to mention the need to start bike on rollers.

It was either this one or none.... not much choice really.

the printed charts make it really difficult to analyze the torque curve vs. rpm, not to mention putting graphs one over the other...

There is no rpm on any of the printed charts? There is no HP vs torque vs RPM on a single chart as is standard practice?

Your new dyno operator needs to be educated on his system, IMHO. ;) Like I asked before, was there an ignition pickup for RPM? My "cheap" dyno will only plot HP vs road speed without an ignition signal, and no torque.
It can also show A/F readings directly, as well as display atmospheric test conditions and correction factors. Once the run has been stored, I can toggle between RPM (with a ignition signal) and MPH on the horizontal scale, different correction factors etc with a few mouse clicks.
