Could be, my memory isn't what it used to be.

My duallie truck threw a check engine light again, Lucas injector cleaner cured it once before. It's probably due for O2 sensors since they are original to the truck. It seems the only brand name gas around here is a two pump shell station on the other end of town. I'd like to see a VP station open although I'm only assuming their pump gas is as good as their race fuel.

I dumped a half can of seafoam in the dually with a half tank of gas. Two 30 mile round trips to my daughters house and the check engine light went out. My wife promptly got $.50 a gallon off of the next 20 gallons we buy at the HyVee store. I'll buy the mid grade no alky and top it off at the shell station. Her car is due for a full tank of Shell too.

The whining that ethanol is in some way a scam makes me laugh. As a farm owner I am all for it...puts money in my pocket.

None of our armed service members have ever had to put their lives in danger or lose their lives in foreign countries to secure our access to ethanol. I have always put in whatever 87 octane gas happened to be available....often 10 percent ethanol. I run a small amount of two stroke oil mixed in on occasion. It has never caused me any problems. My 76 750F is all original right down to all the fuel lines, seals and gaskets in the carbs....nothing leaks. The carbs have never been off the bike. The bowls have been off and jets removed for cleaning a few times. It starts with just a quick tap of the starter button.....even after winter storage. I do drain the carbs and tank in the fall and the empty tank is kept in the house over winter. Tank is spotless on the inside. I have had this bike 10 years now buying it from the original owner so I know it’s complete history. I will trust my own experience over someone else opinion on the matter.

My experience with alcohol fuel has been checkered, I bought race gas tainted with methanol one season, It took me most of the year to figure out what was causing the problems. Finally, a former employee told me I was correct even when the supplier denied it. I've had inline filters gel up and plug even when they look fine. My duallie is just hungry for octane, it has some miles on it, is probably packing some carbon in the cylinders. It runs way better on higher octane fuel, alcohol or not.
The Honda car gets what it gets most of the time, it's not finicky at all. I believe a lot of the trouble I've had with gummed up float valves and plugged injectors is the gas it's self.

I used a gallon of E85 as a solvent to clean out the heavy varnish build up in the gas tank of my 63 Galaxie. Cheap and effective.

I just bought a new tank for my Firebird, EFI ready and inexpensive. Luckily Camaro parts fit it so it's available.

It was $400 for a new Galaxie tank so I decided to recondition the old one. I managed to twist the drain plug bung out so I had to solder that back in place once I freed the plug. Soldering torch and a gas tank can be exciting but I just ran a hose from the exhaust of my Honda Pilot thru the tank for 10 minutes......no boom. Painted the tank and the straps.....they wanted $75 for new straps so I cleaned up the old ones.

My tank wasn't really cheap but I shopped and E bay had the same tank for half of Holley and the big name guys. Same description. The one I found had straps with it too which was good since it's an inch deeper.
I saw a guy cut open a steel gas station tank after it was removed. He did the same exhaust pipe trick. Once it was properly ventilated with a torch a crew finished scrapping it.
I've welded the aluminum gas tank on our dragster. I wash it out with alcohol, then water, Then purge it with argon because I'm tig welding anyway.

Fuel report, the push mower is continuing to start on fewer pulls and run on part throttle when it hasn't been. Seafoam use continues. The lawn tractor is also running great.
I need to drain my 40 chevy's gas tank and check for rust. I'll burn that gas in some lawn equipment if it seems viable. Some of it is race gas, pump gas and multiple types of treatment. It needs exercised. I think there's a 1/4" tee in the line under the tank so a ball valve and a drain hose will be in order.
I bought a tanks Inc. fuel pump and gauge sender for the new firebird tank. Next up is to decide what fuel line to use. I'm not fond of 20' of braided hose under the car so probably 1/2" feed and 3/8" return in cooper nickel.

My '75 550F which isn't ridden gets ethanol free gas with a fresh tank fill every fall before winter....it still runs great.
My 02 camaro gets ethanol free also ,is driven maybe 600 miles a year, runs excellent...
The 08 silverado, 2012 volvo, and 2013 camry get the grocery store discount gas,ethanol...so far ,no issues..
My boat gets marine gas mostly which is ethanol free...sometimes gets store gas....
Lawnmower, snowblower, tiller, edger, powerwasher get ethanol, haven't had any issues....yet. I use techron and stabil at the end of the year before storage.
what I've learned about gas....
All gas stations are mandated to have a minimum amount of cleaning agents in their fuel. Top tier labeled stations advertise they have more, or better cleaners, mainly for reduction of carbon deposits and injector cleaning, not to treat the gas because of ethanol.......I always perferred texaco or conaco...which are disappearing.....but that was before the grocery store gas points program.
Ethanol might cause issues mainly in systems that are exposed to air, and older design gaskets .such as our old bikes. Also yard equipment, boats have unsealed fuel systems, so maybe an additive is needed....
I like project farms test analysis on you tube...a good guy..
However, cars have sealed fuel systems which inhibit exposure to moisture, which is the primary problem with ethanol fuel. So, I don't use additives in the cars anymore.

What jlh3rd said about "unsealed fuel systems" makes sense to me.The carbs have many vent tubes which allow the fuel in the carbs to be exposed to air all the time.The stuff in them rots-away a lot more than what's in the sealed systems and even the stale fuel in our fuel tanks is in better shape than whats in the carbs.

Far more readily available in americas great cornfield country.
Honestly a little surprised the bar and shield die hards haven't imported a few Brazilian models yet.
Guess they're too caught up making cars run on the moonshine.

I got $.67 off a gallon today. It seems about what it should cost. The Car held 14 gallons and the other 6 went into cans since I get the discount on up to 20 gallons. It's use it or lose it.

The dually was a little sluggish this weekend, my blend of octanes wasn't up to snuff. I'm considering water/methanol injection for the long hills. It might mitigate the carbon buildup a little too.

I mentioned before that I gassed up the gl1000 at Shell and bought the 93 octane premium nitrogen enriched high dollar stuff. The GL hates it. Roll on throttle from 3,000 rpm gets a hesitation like it needs an accelerator pump and overall poor seat of the pants feel.
Today I rode it around town to warm things up and it ran off as it has been, then I added 3.3 gallons of Grocery store gas, 87 octane with no alcohol. It seemed better after a block or so, by the time I got a mile, the roll on hesitation is gone and it's running noticeably better.
The issue is probably that no one is buying that premium and it's old in the tank. I'm convinced to not buy any premium there again.
I heard several gas stations have run out over the weekend. I hope it's not going to drive the prices up more. A couple of them in town have dug up the piping and pulled the pumps. The tanks still seem to be in the ground.

No fear of it going up , it's been going up . We were told on TV 2 months ago that opec oil was back to being purchased at 60 dollars a barrel and Americans would be enjoying lower prices at the pump. hasn't happened here. what has been happening is a weekly 10 cent increase except for last week, it went up 20 cents a gallon. It seems to me that we are being spanked by big oil because we are investing in solar farms and electric cars? I'm sure there is another excuse for why this is so and it'll all be explained to us on the news....after it hits 5 bucks a gallon.

I did a 45 mile test with 89 octane generic and 93 octane BP. 89 going and 93 coming back. Not scientific but it got about 1 mpg better on the 93. It cost 20% more but did not improve the mileage 20%.
If I was towing I'd spend the extra just to get the towing power that comes from the knock sensor not turning back the timing. Last weekend it was almost flat to the floor on some long grades and a headwind. Any more throttle and it would downshift out of OD and that's too much rpm to suit me. 2500 vs 3500 rpm on the 496" BBC.
I'm thinking of alcohol/water injection for use on hills. The learning curve is important with it.

I mentioned elsewhere I got 10 gallons of 110 avgas for about $50. My plan is mix it 50/50 with no alky pump gas and use it for my bikes that sit too much. A friend uses it in his Simplexes and Indians with good results. The airport has a self service pay at the pump setup. I just acted like I owned the place, someone drove by to see what I was up to and didn't say boo. I did use the guys that buy there N number N12345678 to make it work.

Don,How does 100 avgas run for you,and what color is 100 oct. fuel? Do you need to use different local plane I.D. numbers(N12345678,etc.)and key the pumps in to their exact number? I plan on going to a small airport and purchase from the self service pump,just haven't gotten up the nerve yet.

umm....no....pay attention to who's elected and who's forcing what. I didn't vote to cancel the keystone pipeline......stop fracking.....and beg opec to produce more.....
big oil was doing just fine until jan 2021........wake up.
