My K1 and K4 both got out today. Riding with a buddy (his 1958 Ariel single is not charging it’s battery), we met a very nice ‘81 CB750 Custom, down by Lake Ontario.

This morning. Had a fight with the wife, so took off on the F2, did a quick 60 miler, and I was back in the good books by the time I got home. Happy days.

Safest to ride slow, as the road signs recommends + 10%.

Today! Woohoo! No more lockdown "Ring of Steel" stopping me from riding out into the weeds as we've had no new covid cases or deaths for 7 days, so today I took the afternoon off, and took the F2 for a 113 mile ride in 90 deg F temps. Bloody hot, but the bike ran fine, and I had a great ride.

Almost 200 miles today, temp was 22c, for Ontario thats about 14c warmer than normal.

My K1 got to commute to work today, being sunny and 75*. It'll probably get a break with cold and wet weather coming, so the K5 will get to do the needful commuting for a while. Those 30* mornings are not far off... Layer up.

Rode on Sunday; 60 miles on the farm and ranch roads west of Ft. Worth. Low '70s, sunny, not much traffic and twisty roads - almost heaven!

Just recently tried a bit of octane boost in my '76 550F and found that she runs better with it. I typically use 87-octane ethanol free, I cannot find it in a higher octane without buying racing gas at 100+ octane. So a bit of the additive with the 87 octane, about 3 ounces per tank, seems to work nicely. Anyone experienced any side affects with the octane booster?

It won't hurt anything. But it doesn't add anything to an engine that doesn't require the additional octane.

I rode my '75 today, 36* on the way to work and 44* on the way home though it felt colder going home in the dark. Tomorrow is scheduled for 32* for the morning commute and 38* on the way home. I'll remember my winter gloves tomorrow!

Just a quick lap around the block today after installing new clutch plates and Barnett springs on the F2. All good, no slipping, and the lever pressure with the heavy duty springs didn't feel any harder than before. I'll have to do another 100 miler this weekend and enjoy a clutch slip-free ride.

34* on the way to work and 34* on the way home today. Heavier gloves and windproof long johns were a good choice. Took the highway in, get it done quick, and back roads with some cloverleaf racing each way at my favorite local spot. I was hoping for more red lights on the way home to hug the engine! Too cold to stop and make memories with photos, but here's an aerial of my favorite local spot.

I forget what springs I used in my K1 clutch when I had slipping problems with original and new Honda clutch but heavier springs and a lightly used CycleX clutch from ChefTusky cured my slippage. The spring are heavy and I feel them right in my carpel tunnel after a long spirited ride, but they work.

Thanks mate, I had to laugh at myself later in the afternoon when ratting thru my tubs of new parts looking for a new sump plug for my K0 engine, I found 2 other sets of heavy duty clutch springs that I’ve had for many years and have never used, good old Alzheimers obviously kicking in.

The Barnett springs are slightly shorter than the ones that came out of the F2, but were harder to compress. The good thing (apart from the fact that the clutch no longer slips) is that the “pull” doesn’t feel any harder than before, nor is it harder to find neutral with the engine running.

Just got back from a 100 miler on the Effing F2. I replaced the clutch and springs last week, brake master cylinder, top brake hose, speedo and tach and installed new Oury grips yesterday, and apart from problems with both gauges, the bike ran great.

I stopped to take a couple of pics, and when I turned the ignition back on, nada. Poop. I checked the fuse box, and I'd blown 2 fuses, which was weird. It was lightly raining, so maybe that was an issue, but anyhoo, I replaced the fuses (thank God I had spares) and when I got to the next town that had a gas station I was able to buy a pack of glass fuses that are too long for the stupid little Honda fuse box if you want to put the lid back on, but it would have gotten me out of the sh1t if I blew any more fuses, which I didn't.

So I blew a couple of fuses, got soaked, but then when the sun came back out it almost dried me out, and at least my 30 year old leather jacket got a nice wash, and I had a great ride. I got home in plenty of time to do some more work on the K0 build, so all in all, a great day.
