Topic: Identifying these fork bolts/caps? K7 750

(This is a photo from when I first got the bike and washed it for the first time so disregard the obvious problems as they're fixed now lol)
 
Has anyone ever seen these style of huge allen fork caps? I was thinking of replacing them but I guess I was curious what model they're from. They're 35mm fork tubes but the lowers and maybe the tubes are definitely from a different model than the 77 they're on. I can't seem to find any repro or NOS items online that look like these with the giant Allen head. Was just hoping to find out where they might be from.

my 77 and 78 750 automatics have that style clamp/allen bolt arrangement they also have black plastic plugs that go in allen head. part # from CMSNL.com are as follows handle bar clamp 53131371000, allen bolt 90185371000, plug 91456371770.

Woah Ill have to search around. Thanks!! Yeah the front end and forks seem to be from a 79 dohc. Fortunately theyre still 35mm tubes so I was able to put the stock triple on but the previous owner had swapped the whole front end from an early DOHC model which caused me lots of trouble with mounting the gauges and whatnot. I had ordered a set of fork bolts for a k7 since nobody had responded to this for a while just to try them, and they definitely weren't right. Hopefully I'll be able to get the right ones now that I know!

Ohhh I see. I just searched those part numbers and looking back I probably should have been more clear. I meant the bolts that cap the top of the fork tubes, where you fill them! These are like a big Allen bolt with a larger thread size than the chrome bolts from 4into1. But I think I was able to find some finally.

I've still never found any that look just like these though. These have a recessed Allen style head rather than the hex style that most of these fork bolts have. I think there were plastic covers for them too but they're next to impossible to find as far as I can see.

Those do look like the same cap bolts on the 79' CB750 forks I have here, p/n 51454-422-003 and of course NLA from Honda. You might have some luck finding forks for the 79-82 CB750 on ebay. Heck, you might even find a whole bike for cheap if you look long enough!

The dime city caps could be correct, provided the forks are indeed the DOHC 79-82 variety. The Dime City caps are aluminum though, so be careful threading them in!

Yeah honestly those aluminum ones are like absolutely the only ones I've ever seen online. Aluminum weirds me out though too. I'd definitely rather have chrome steel.
 
And yeah, I'd love another project! Lol
 
Thanks for the part numbers though, I appreciate that! Maybe I'll just make up a cover for them and pretend they're not all chewed up and gross looking

I've not ventured into this area of the forums before. They look the same as the fork caps on my CB650 also, and I might have a good pair from one of my parts bikes if you are still looking for a set. I'll check in the garage before we meet up for your old exhaust.

Sounds great! I just saw this. Yeah they look like they'll work. I saw online that ones being sold that'd work for me also claimed they'd work with the CB650
