Harness Ignition Connector
« on: July 20, 2020, 07:57:15 AM »
All,

In following the advise for a headlight issue, I've looked at my ignition switch.  Once I looked at it I remembered, the switch and connector aren't original.  Long story I won't bore anyone with but in short, I have a Honda Goldwing switch on this 550F.  The harness had been cut and the Goldwing connector added.  Some of the ports don't have wires but I do have the needed wires in place.  This worked for years.  Now I'm guessing the splices are causing issues.  I'm going to correct the switch or at least the switch cap, but I don't know where I can find the mating connector short of buying a whole new harness.

Any suggestions?  Are there such things as replacement connectors.  I could install the blade / receivers myself.   Thanks

Unfortunately not the ignition switch blocks, if the switch part works OK you could remove the harness block and fit individual insulated female spades
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Thanks for the link.  Those guys look like they have everything.   For the immediate moment I'm going to just give the splices and internal connections the once over and see if that doesn't help.  Then I'll look at getting a new switch / seat lock set.    I'll still have the same connector issue, but at that time I'll either try these guys or add insulated connectors to each wire as Bryan suggested.

Thanks
