73 CB500 K2 rocker shafts question

Hi guys I'm getting ready to install the rockets in the valve cover and have a question what keeps the shafts from migrating towards the cam gear?

The hole isnt open at the gear end
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

It should look like this at the closest point to the cam sprocket. You should really be more worried about the rocker shafts coming out the end cap side. I'd recommend using blue locktite or some other removable sealant on the screws for the end caps or you might lose yours.... Like I did. They are not easy to find.

Boy that's weird on my 73 the shaft holes to straight through from one side to the other going through the cam gear well on the under side of the cover you can run a rod in the rocker shaft cover #1 and come out on #4. I will use locktite  on those cover screws thanks. Maybe my 2 and 3 holes have a taper or step towards the cam gear end?

From memory the holes taper at the inner ends so shafts stop, might be different on the 77/78 covers that has locked shafts
