 Back in the 80's I was working on a house as a bricklayer.
 There was a crew of Mexican roofers,  they pulled the hub cap off their Chevy truck.
 Started a fire and cooked their lunch in it.
 I had to check it out, some of the best burrito I ever had!!

I just got the house and shop reroofed and these days the mexican crew has a microwave oven in the bed of their truck and it smelled really good.

 I donated my old job site microwave to the siding guys doing my house. They already had a toaster oven in the van. It also smelled good around noon. That aluminum van was 40 years old but looked like new, it had original tires and just a few thousand miles.
 They drove it slow, never left town and left it parked on every job site. I offered a set of used tires off my Dually and that shamed them into getting new ones. He wanted to take it on the highway more often to use up the old gas in it.

I made hotdogs on the cast-on intake manifold of my trusty Fairmont wagon's straight-6, too!
When I worked in the oilfield we'd make hot water for tea/instant-coffee on the big (2400 CID, V-24) diesel intakes, too. Someone in the shop had made a bracket we could set on the intake manifolds next to any one of the (4) turbos that would transfer heat to a 'hot plate' about 4 inches square. It would boil water in 0 degree weather.

 I worked night shift in a Butler Mfg. factory making steel buildings, some guys would make a locker out of scrap metal for their personal stuff. Then one guy put a big light bulb in one and started heating up his dinner. Before long you could smell pies baking and Italian food and roast beef cooking, it was amazing. Of course, the company had to stop all of that before someone got burned, shocked or started a fire.

when i worked on a core drill in the mid 70's  ,  we would punch holes in the top of dinty more beef stew  and corned beef cans .  put them in the intake manifold of the big cat diesel that ran the mud pumps for about 45 min .   when it was 3 a.m. and 20 below it was great to have something hot .    the little things in life  !

Oh, man...I met a fellow oilfield-er in 1986 who was drilling into the Codell formations on the Colorado Front Range, which are high-pressure gas pockets. They, too, were heating their suppers on the Cats. He said one day they hit pressure almost 800 feet more shallow than they expected, and after the BOPs all popped they never found their suppers! All but one of the guys got rocked right off the platform, too.

Don…. I had a summer job doing service work in a huge Dempster’s Bakery. They had one of those machines in their cafeteria. Never seen one anywhere else. We’d pull fresh Kaiser Rolls off the line and eat that chilli until we couldn’t breathe! I can still smell the fresh bread.
