Got Another 650 - Shop Might Be Too Small Now
« on: July 30, 2020, 05:57:49 PM »
I love my 550/650 hybrid, but wanted another 650 to play around with. 1979. This one is going to stay stock. Not a restore, but I will clean it up and get it running and riding 100%. And of now it needs a battery and the guy I bought it from says he was quoted $2k to make it “run nice”. Not sure what that quote entailed but looking at it it might just need a good carb clean and tune up. There is some oil weeping but not sure where it’s coming from, possibly the cam cover/tappet covers and also maybe head gasket. Won’t address that stuff until I get it running. It’s in good shape, some small dents on the tank and left exhaust pipe and some surface rust on fork tubes and exhaust. It also has a second giant tail light and not one, but TWO horns! And to top it all off an I Love U bracelet on the steering neck. Don’t think that’s a factory item. Oh yeah, payed $800 for it. Came with a cover, owners manual, shop manual (I already have one though) and a trickle charger.
