Topic: What do you guys use for anti theft?

Now that I am almost finished working on my 71, my focus starts to shift to how to protect my baby from getting pluck off the street/parking lot when parked. What do you guys use? Let's hear it!

 Lets see if any old timers can remember this gizmo. This came on a 750F that I bought. It fits on the license plate bracket and has a mercury controlled switch in it. When activated by the bike being stood upright off the side stand all hell breaks loose. He had it hooked up to a pair of snail horns off the roll bar which may have worked with the horn button also.
 A guy I know has a  key lock that he puts through a hole in his front brake disk interfering with the caliper if someone tries to roll it away. I bet you could drill a single hole in one on a vintage Honda and do the same thing. If I was parking it outside it would have good locks and a heavy tow or log chain through both wheels and or around a pole or something.
   Does your bike still have the steering lock under the lower triple ?

Is the gizmo still available for sale? Yes I always lock the steering lock under the lower triple. Thinking about buying one of those brake lever lock. Still need something for the rear wheel though, or the mercury switch gizmo

I guess i'v been lucky. Never had a bike messed with. Although I keep my bikes in the garage at home. On a bike trip, I usually remember to take the key out of the ignition overnight. When running into a store or restaurant, I put my gloves over the key. Except Walmart, where I take the key.

My rotor is not drilled

Mine wasn’t either, I sent it to someone to get it drilled. Not only is perfect for these type of ok, the disk looks awesome!

The left side cover cannot be protected imho. People drill holes in the connector pin and secure it with wire. But they still try to take them thus it breaks in pieces. The oil tank you can with an aftermarket oil cap with a lock. But honestly with enough force you can remove that one also. I lost 2 sets of 2 bikes within 5 minutes once when briefly in a liquor store. Expensive booze.

I used to take them off myself overnight if camping if the bike cannot be parked secure, or put on the ugly set that they can keep and stick in a dark place.

Worst is that you know its a cb enthusiastic who takes them.

One like this stopped my bike disappearing in the night in Greece. We also had a lock that was round the wheels securing our bikes together and that had gone! But the bike was only moved a couple of feet....before bleep, bleep, bleep!

With our bikes appreciating in value, so is the attention to steal them. Working on these bikes, we all know how easy it is to jump-start it. The left side cover is a big liability. I think an alarm that cuts power to the engine is essential. After that, some sort of audible and visual warning along with steering/wheel(s) locking should make them think twice about stealing it. Can't save the side covers though

Nope not these. Only fresh meat gets them distracted....the type on 2 legs thats going for the bikes. Or dogs itself thats also happening these days
