Wheel building report
« on: August 01, 2020, 09:15:45 AM »
A while back I posted about being stuck on truing an aluminum A rim on an F rear hub. The spokes had gotten way too tight and I was chasing my tail trying to get it right. (didn't find that post)
Anyway, as suggested by you guys, I walked away for a while. This week I returned to the project, removed each spoke one at a time and put anti seize on the threads and washer. I got the wobble close, then the hop and re-checked the wobble. Last I checked for any spokes not tight enough.
It went well and was worth the effort. As always, thanks for the good advise.

+1 on the antiseize, the lubrication it provides is essential to these types of fine adjustments, even more so if you're not using new spokes and nipples.

What washers did you use? Are these important for alu rims or steel too?

I have had to do that too many times.
Pound my head against the wall trying to solve a problem. Take a break, come back, and the answer is right in front of me.
Sometimes my wife of 41 years steps up and points out the obvious, saving the day.
I also find that problems often seem really tough right before lunch and after I eat they are miraculously easy!! Duh
