J-Clips for Alternator Cover CB550

These clips (see image) to hold on the alternator cover are unavailable from my local Honda dealer in Calgary although they are available from David Silver Spares USA. Do I really need these or are other members using other methods to attach the alternator cover? On my CB400F they had a slightly different alternator cover that just screwed in. Thanks

They are the best way, im sure your dealer could order them if they could be bothered
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

I used high heat RTV to hold mine on before I upgraded to the latter 550 cover which was cast like the 750. In fact, I still use paint safe silicone to hold the gas tank emblems on...
