A lifetime of motorcycles
« on: August 10, 2020, 07:08:39 PM »
At age 62, I have been riding/wrenching on motorcycles my entire life, well for at least 50 years.  I joined this forum because I purchased a 1974 CB350FK1 last weekend in Baltimore. Today the engine is spread all over the workbench.     I ordered about $700 worth of parts yesterday and my goal is to have it running in 3 weeks. This is my 20th motorcycle, I cannot even count how many bikes I've restored and built. Race bikes, road bikes, dirt bikes.  I have already taken a ton of pictures so I figured I would post a few of them here and share this partial restoration with people who might appreciate it.  I may have a few questions along the way as well. Alrighty then!

Welcome mate, same here, I got my first bike when I was 9 years old, the same year I got my shiny new bicycle. My dad was none too impressed when I swapped it for a "non running" Honda QA50 a few months later, but I didn't care, it was the start of a 51 year odyssey which has seen over 20 CB750's, not to mention 3 Harleys, a Triumph, a couple of BSA's, Royal Enfields, Kawasaki 900's, a Ducati 900SS, a CZ Scramble bike, a couple of Yamaha dirt bikes, 7 BMW's, and I think I currently have 18 bikes, ranging from CB750's nd Kawasaki KZ/Z1's to modern(ish) sports bikes like my SP1's and VFR750. There's never been a time since I was 9 when I haven't owned a bike, and I've forgotten more than I can remember. To me, motorcycling has always been a passion, not a fashion.

Enjoy your time here, and don't be afraid to share your stories. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
