Well I'm in. I've got more reasons than most when it comes to giving back to this site.
Ev and I will never be able to repay everybody that helped us back in 2012 on this forum but I'm going to do my best.

Was it that long ago Brian? Time goes so fast, it was Sammy Green who kicked the whole thing off, he asked me to go visit you in hospital to see how you were doing, and I’m glad I did, it gave me somewhat of an insight into what happens when you pitch yourself at a great rate of knots into an immovable object, but also gave me the pleasure of representing the generous members here who rallied together to help you and Ev at a difficult time in your lives.

I still chat to Sammy on FB now and then, he’s doing it tough at the moment as he’s been in lockdown for months due to his poor health ever since his big crash a few years ago. He says he still drops in to see how things are going, which is good, he’s a top bloke. ;D

I haven't had a chat to Uncle Sammy for quite awhile. I'd better drop him a line.

i have been meaning to visit him for ages but he has not replied to a pm i sent him to arrange it . hope he is well and just does not want me to visit !

So as not to be outdone by the virtue signalling above, I've taken out the monthly subscription. I just bought another CB750 today, so I'll contribute with another half arsed build thread too......... ;D

Ha ha, don't hold your breath Trevor, I'm not a fan of that crap. Having said that, I do have one of those faux crocodile leather plank seats and a K2 tank to go on Spotty's knobby tyred K7 that we traded a year or two back, which some young man-bun wearing, "Ned Kelly" beard adorned hipster with saggy arsed pants and gym boots will probably love......... Hey it's a K7, so any mods can only make it look better....... ;D

I actually have a couple of Dunstall tank/seat units, a Rickman and an Egli fairing, Laverda Jota handlebars, Lester and Henry Abe wheels, Borrani rims, and all sorts of goodies in the "Tardis" as Cliff used to refer to it, but it makes nice garage furniture, and anyway, kids today don't appreciate that stuff......... ;D

Thanks guys, it's true, K7/8 and F's are not my favourites, but that F2 (a US import) is pretty complete, was cheap, and will be a good flip. The big selling point for me is that the tank isn't full of rust or bondo, good F tanks are hard to come by. When I was in Canberra I bought a near complete F2 engine that the PO, an engineer, had cleaned up beautifully, including reconditioning the head with new valves, guides and springs, and had it skimmed.

Sadly he also had it bored for some Dunstall 811cc pistons, but lost them, but that's OK, I'll pop the sleeves out and throw in a good used 836cc kit I happen to have in one of my piles. The box of take off's that Cliff gave me will come in handy, and all I've had to order so far is a new seat cover from Britain.

The engine in this one is locked, as it's been sitting in a barn since 2010, so I'll try the ATF and Acetone trick just to see if it's a goer, but if not that's unimportant with what I have already to go, so if no good it'll get yanked, I'll clean up the rust, rattle can whatever needs painting, throw on some new stinko's, and take it for a lap. All going well, it'll be a nice Christmas present for someone, but if not, it won't be the ugliest Honda in my garage, my CX500 still has that honour! ;D

Maybe your future favourite daily rider!

I must admit, a good F2 (if you can find one, they were always pretty fragile, and over here most got flogged to death) is a joy to ride with half decent handling and brakes, and I remember the accelerator pump carbs on my first F2 were a revelation for smooth acceleration without flat spots, especially if I was in the wrong gear.

The F2's rear disc brake wasn't as violent as the F/F1 either, so less chance of locking up the rear when you grab hold of everything in an emergency situation. The over-aggressive twin piston rear caliper and wimpy front on my shiny new 1975 F spat me down the road in such a situation in 1978, throwing me and my passenger under the back of a car, which luckily, was driving away from us, and not toward us. Hmmnnn, the more I think of it, the more I'm looking forward to riding it..... ;D

Dual brakes = working brake ;)
I did not like the F bikes before. Some good restores here have changed my mind.
Stock exhaust looked too heavy. Easy yo fix.

Yep, I'm still not impressed by the F/F1, they were ugly spuds, but the F2 was a nicer looking bike with better brakes and handling, and a little more power. ;D

I've always had a soft spot for the F/F1 of course, it was the first motorcycle I spent any real time on...  That being said, over the weekend, I just purchased my second F2 as well... from the original owner, with the original engine.  Needs a LOT of cosmetic work, but the motor isn't locked up and will probably slot into my chopper build until I get an 836 built up for that...
