Tachometer cap mutilated
« on: August 26, 2020, 08:17:08 PM »
In an attempt to remove the tach cable where it attaches to the engine, I hit the cap a bit too hard with a phillips driver and it crumbled.  My concern is whether there is any risk of debris getting into the cylinder.  I have not attempted to pull the cap out yet.  I'm hesitant to move anything until I'm sure nothing can fall back into the hole.

So...

1) Am I good to slide the unit out as is, with the tach gear?

2) Can the whole tach gear be removed and NOT replaced (hole capped)?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes it can be capped but need an O ring on the outer diameter of plug, the casting is being remade but it is EXPENSIVE
