Global warming concert
« on: February 16, 2007, 11:43:11 AM »
Queen Elizabeth II made Bob Geldof an honorary knight for his continuing efforts to eradicate hunger in Africa, including his organization of 1985's Live Aid concert.

So if Geldof can become a knight for working to ease suffering on one continent, what can Al Gore expect now that he is organizing a concert to save the entire planet from a global warming disaster?

Would King Al be out of line?

On Thursday, the former vice president announced plans to team up with Kevin Wall, who produced Live 8 in 2005, producer-rapper Pharrell Williams and actress Cameron Diaz to launch Live Earth, a 24-hour worldwide concert on July 7 to bring attention to disastrous climate changes. The team hopes to bring together more than 100 of the world's top musical acts, in much the way Geldof did for Live Aid and Willie Nelson did for Farm Aid. Some of the performers scheduled to perform at Live Earth include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Foo Fighters and Faith Hill.

And if Gore gets a knighthood, shouldn't Diaz get a little something for her efforts too? How does Dame Cameron sound?

??? I wonder if these concerts will really make the public more aware or have they other motives.....Perhaps this does help maybe educate the younger. :)

For those of you who doesn't know, Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Prize of Peace.

The day I knew about that I lost my faith in the only prize in the World that I thought was always justifiably awarded. With no intention to discuss whether Al Gore reinvention of himself will help the planet or not, I can only say a big WTF????? Nobel Prize of Peace? Isn't there anybody out there who deserved it more?

Wouldn't it be great a big concert at the Wembley Arena, that in order to save energy the lightning is done with candles? They could give a small hand-powered generator to everybody in the crowd so they could generate the power and so they could run a totally environmental-friendly show?

Didn't Gore invent the internet too?

He didn't get the prize for that one.

Actually, I think he owns alot of oil stock (Occidental) and is hedging his bets.

Well if having to share the prize with 2,500 others is a win. I guess is a 1/2500 winner.

The human race being responsible for Global Warming is a myth put about by junk scientists and politicians who want to charge us more taxes :( :(

The planet is no warmer now than it was 200+ years ago. Amongst the reasons it's now getting warmer than it was 100 years ago is that just prior to the dawn of the 20th century there were three massive volcanic eruptions that pumped millions of tonnes of dust and ash into the upper atmosphere.  That debris deflected a portion of the sun's energy away from the surface of the earth, resulting in it cooling down somewhat.

You can bet your bottom dollar that when this sucker lets go:

http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/volcano-tours/volcano_news/indonesia/west_java/krakatau/eruption_update.html

Which it will, the next generation of ecomentalist 'scientists' will all be harping on about the next Ice Age, and how we'll have to have higher taxes to finance their latest hairbrained ideas ::)

PS:  For the record, it has been illegal for U.S. citizens to accept honours from the British Crown since the birth of the United States as a nation ;)

Er, 'scuse me guys, but the worldwide "Live Earth" concerts have come and gone, like 6 months ago?

Dirty Dan hinted as much, but was largely ignored when the usual political rants started? Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Al Gore........Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
I still remember Tipper and her tipper fit with the music industry. Al is pretty funny when Tipper pulls the string. As for concerts and awareness I feel they are wrapping the issues in pretty little paper so they can sneak the ugly by the uninformed.
Next time I need and "actor" or "politician" to tell me my views I will lean in and take one for the team in the name of all great "followers".
Just turn off the light when you leave the room. Take your bike to get where you are going if you can. Conserve water. Same thing I was told when I was three. All without the music.
