Trailer materials

Well I am thinking of building my own trailer. I would like to do aluminum for the frame to save weight. I want to do a 5x8 foot that can hold 1500 - 2000 pounds. Anyone done this with aluminum?

yup, 6x4x1/2 for main construction, 3x2x1/4 for cross pieces and rails, 2" angle for the cap, two one ton axles. Mine was 6x9 though and came to about 2 grand in materials cause of the axles and wheels. I'll try to get a pic. I've maxed the axle rating with no flex. Bad thing about aluminum is if it ever flexes, its pretty close to breaking. Trailer only wheighs 600 lbs
