What a nice project, really beautiful.
We need some sort of “other bike of the month/quarter “ or something

Could get controversial!  I'm selling my beloved 82 Suzi GS1100E Mr Turbo Bonneville/El Mirage race bike on Bringatrailer right now (shameless plug).  I'll only have the Norton for a while as I also recently sold my '73 CB750 and '79 GS1000E.

I need to redo the seat with a bit less foam, I don't want it flat but about an inch less would be good to me anyway, hide scuffs along lower edge too.  I got 50 density (firm) foam and it's too soft for my liking so I'll try the 70 extra firm.

Spend it on the Norton!  I found the guy that painted the tanks back in '94, he signed them and  I looked him up on FB - he lives nearby.  So I got a new repro side cover and toolbox housing plus battery tray. Dropped off the cover today at his house to get matched.  He has records of the color still.  Cool guy with lots of Lake Elsinore history, remembers the GP there and has On Any Sunday posters and even a 125 Elsinore.

Wow, $13K for the Suzi, good for you!  I had no idea of the value, you happy with that?

BTW - how was your experience with BaT? I have a bike I would like to list.

I'm OK with it yes.  The high bidder didn't respond, I asked BaT what to do, they said wait. I eventually got an Email from the guy, he said somehow the bid went to the wrong auction as if he had nothing to do with it, and generally lied a few times more.  I sent to BaT and they waived fees to the 2nd bidder and I made a deal, lost a couple hundred due to that fine fellow that 'won' it.  They require a 5% hold to bid but there's really no recourse if someone stiffs you, unlike big auction houses that guarantee the hammer price. But it only cost me $99 to list so that's a deal IMO.   It was very stressful, from a 'cool, I'm done with this' to Uh Oh.

Good to hear that BaT backed you up.

My buddy won an eBay auction on a GTO last year and turned out the seller sold the car offline, nothing eBay could do but ban the idiot.

All done except waiting for paint on the side cover and oil tank to be retrieved from painter and mounted too.  Should have in a couple weeks, will be riding this summer.

Good looking bike!  The Norton Hybrids used to be unloved.  Now, things have changed, and they've been rising in value.

Thanks there is a matchless Indian nearby at a place called Dragers in Burlington WA.  It's like a museum, but all for sale.  Dragers was an old Seattle HD dealership.

Drager's is a cool place.  I stop in every once in a while.

Well after a long delay, I finally got some time to finish up the Norton. I'm breaking it in, it's very strong and rides fantastic. Here's a pic and short video of my first (short) ride on it.  One up, three down on the right side takes a bit of getting used to!

Thanks.  I was thinking of converting to negative ground to run LED but ahh, no need. It has a Wassell electronic ignition in a housing where the magneto was. Was less expensive than a Magneto rebuild and works great. I also put a 3-phase alternator and Podtronics regulator/rectifier on, and it's charging fine.   Here is a pic of the ad when my son found it. I got started on it in Jan 21 but it's been a bumpy ride for me since then, and the project took a back seat for a while.

Here's the original ad my then 17 y/o son found on Craigslist.
