My old stock seat looked a little saggy after I rode it yesterday, kind of like the Yamiya lowered seats. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and re-foam another seat. I'm glad they are back in stock and able to re-plenish their supply.

That saggy, baggy look is actually one of my favorite things about the K0's...not that I have one, would love to though.  Looks like some old racer chopped the foam down to go Kawi hunting in AMA Superbike...  sorry jakec, not very convincing?

Haha. I would be more happy with it, but its more sagged on one side than the other. the foam is also pretty much rock hard. But the worst part is all the foam particles coming out of the bottom holes in the seat. I had to duct tape over all of them.

I contemplated the yamiya seat but I figured I have a nice cover and pan still, better just do it. I got the foam.

My sandcast still has the original cover over its Yamiya foam.

My sandcast still has the original cover over its Yamiya foam.

That is the best combo. Too bad my cover was absolutely done.

I noticed the full K0 seat is $120 more than a red foam and shipping is the same. Of course, that seat isn't made with red foam inside.
It was discussed on here that small pieces of red foam may be inserted in the seat pan holes to disguise a white foam. Subterfuge, I say! Sneaky? Maybe. Have I tried it? I can't recall.

This bike sat since the early 80s and the foam is more smooshed on one side. So I think that something must have been sitting/leaning on it for all those years.

It begins to crumble and sifts red sandy granules out of the holes in the seat pan. Until then it's really comfortable. The later K0's had red and yellow foam seats that also fail in a similar fashion. Ill get a pic of my older Yamiya foam today.

I was about to ask you to post the old yamiya foam. My old foam is doing the sandy crumble. It was getting all over so I taped over the holes.

I got my foam the other day. It is surprisingly really heavy. So I guess the shipping cost is a little more understandable. It’s an open cell foam but it’s so heavy it gives the impression of like a gel-foam? Not sure how to describe it. It’s very dense for being open cell and has an elasticity to it. I’ve taken apart stock seats before and seen the foam which was not as dense. I guess I just expected it to be more of a 1:1 recreation, but this seems to be a more modern foam. But maybe that will be a good thing.

Mine is identical and when I compare it to my cover, the foam looks massive too. It will be interesting to see if it all stuffs into place!

Original foam, pieces trimmed off of new yamiya foam once glued on the pan, and the finished product. It ended up fitting pretty much perfectly. The two small foam shavings are from the front corners. I used all the original tear holes in the cover aside from maybe 3-4 on the front corners which were pretty tight. I was able to use the original holes for the passenger strap and the trim as well. Overall it went on pretty easy. So I would say the foam is good. It does seem a tiny bit overstuffed at the moment but I guess if it does settle down a bit then it will be better.

That looks great! What glue do you use to stick it to the pan? Did you use any kind of slip sheet between the cover and foam? Some people use a plastic bag to allow it to move around more easily.

I just used spray glue, and no, no slip cover. The underside of the cover has a nylon coating on the flat part. But also if you notice on the original foam they used a dab of glue on the original seat to hold the cover in place. Pretty interesting

I used no glue and a slip cover of garbage bag. Here is the sandy crumble of an original seat that I procured here, it's a combo of red and yellow foam.
