Alternatives to honda bond
« on: September 24, 2020, 02:10:14 AM »
Hi.
I have the opportunity to have for free from a friend of mine the sealant for crankcase halves. He has the Three Bond liquid gasket compound.
Apparently, I don't see any issue to use it instead to buy a pack of expensive honda bond just for only one time use.
Any comment? thanks.

Searching for Hondabond and a number of Threebond numbers come up 1104, 1184, 1207B to name three. Which is recommended?

I use 1104. Not familiar with the others. Grey goo, Hondabond lookx pretty much identical. I don't think brush on liquid is right, but it probably works ok...

Unless you are not in europe, 40 EUR and without shipping and without VAT (22%).
It would cost to me around more than 55 bucks without shipping

For cases, Loctite 518 can be an alternative. I ordered from UK on eBay.
Next build will get that.

Last builds Permatex Aviation no3 that works fine under rubber pucks under cam holder too.
