I am at a loss.  I believe I have followed the directions but I cant get the starter to turn over. What should I check.  the starter worked before I took the electrical out.  Thanks

Honda directions for a santee box?  Are you running a horn, and turn signals?  Check the garage at hondachopper.com and find the simplified wiring diagram. That is better for the santee L shaped box. You might want to consider changing your switch to an automotive type that springs back. Let me know if you can’t find it, or if you need help finding an ignition switch. I’ve been using that style switch for about 20yrs and even did away with the start button, and starter solenoid. My post is more suited for hc.com, but want to give you a heads up.

Yes, i have been thru the diagram several times.  I must be just missing something. I am wondering if it is not the switch as well.  I bought a different starter button today at the store. When I turn the key on i swear i can smell something getting smelly.  i wonder if I am not damaging the components.

How do I check my starter to see if it is good?  I took this bike a part about 2 years ago and it started and ran then.  Maybe the starter has an issue?

Hook it up to a battery, use jumpers..

Turn your key to the on position and short the starter relay posts with a screwdriver. Test your switch with a meter to be sure it is changing states

Checked my starter.  Looked over the directions again.  Checked some wires and it worked.  Thanks for the help.  I am sure I will need more thanks.
