Our second run, we're getting organised now. A beautiful day out, hot and sunny. 200 mile round trip with plenty of stops.

Nice turnout. The photographer did a good job hiding the VMax from the classic bikes. The gold 650 Yamaha has caught me eye. It appears to have a 1971 color, a unique tank stripe something like a 1973 TX650 - but slightly different, a disc brake like the 72/72 models, but no electric starter like the 70/71 model. It looks like an all original, just several oddities from the US models.

We do these with our VJMC and they are a blast. Thanks for posting. I really love the 70 and 71 H1's and the 74 H2B triples. I bet they were the reason behind so many gas stops. The H2 would give it's owner about 22 mpg on a good day.

I rented a GPZ 750 in Christchurch in 1997. Spent 4 months working on a farm just north of Kekerengu called Wharanui.
Had the bike the week between christmas and new year eve, and made a round trip all around the South Island.
Didn´t see a drop of rain even on the West Coast.
You guys have some of the greatest roads I´ve ever ridden on 

Finished the bike trip by driving by Brittens shop i Christchurch.
It was on a saturday but I knocked on the door and was let in by a mechanic who showed me round the premises.
Took a couple of pics of me hugging the V1000.... Seriously cool !

Anyway, I really want to come back to NZ one day to see if it really is as good as I remember it

Hi Dan, It's a small workld. I used to work at Blenheim airport back then. Used to make about 4 or 5 surf trips down to Kiakoura every year. It's a great part of the country. Good luck with the house.

It certainly is a small world.
Visited Blenheim a bunch of times when I was there. Actually picked up some parts for the 750 from an autodealer there, he had a bunch of stuff laying in the backyard.
Ahh, the good old days when nobody wanted old Honda stuff.... 

Did all the "touristy" stuff in Kaikoura, i.e. swam with all kinds of sea mammals.... Nice place though!
Found my dreamhouse there, nested at the edge of the cliff on the peninsula. Sooo nice...
