We're not racing our GS 1100E just riding fast. 8)

It'll be fine mate, they're a beast, I wish a stock Z1 was as fast, but they're not, so I had to build 2 hotrod Z's to make them competitive ;D

Competitive? Why? Are we about to see you line up at PI next year? ;D

Uncle Tez is right. No issue with the road bikes and you won't have to put up with the annoying whine the straight cut gears throw out.

What? Annoying? Wash out your mouth Brian, I used to love hearing my mate Tom's Z1 whining away underneath me when we'd do a pub crawl in Sydney, he'd ride that fcuker so hard it didn't matter how much I drank, I'd be scared sober by the time we got back to the barracks....... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The gear whine doesn't bother me at all. I like the sound of Muncie M22 transmissions and gear cam drives. It's hotrod music to me. 8)

Yep me too mate, in a moment of weakness I sold my Honda VFR750 last year, that little bike was superb, and the combination of the V4 note thru my Remus stainless exhaust and the cam gear whine at 11,000 RPM, was sex on wheels.

I must restificate my RC51 SP1 and take it for a ride soon, it’s possibly the most uncomfortable bike that Honda ever made, but the mechanical cacophony created by the gear driven cams and the Yoshi pipes still makes me weak at the knees…. ;D

Every time I hear that whine of gear-driven cams, I get that same feeling. I miss mine (especially the lovely torque) but MAN that was not the most comfortable bike to try to throw around tight twisties.

Years ago, I raced a 1293cc Mini Cooper S. The Longman race motor had straight cut drop gears (between the crank and trans) and a full set of Jack Knight straight cut gears in the box. Always wore ear plugs and really the noise wasn’t coming from the tail pipe!

I see that you’ve sold your RC51 awhile ago, have you been watching the prices going through the roof now? I have a second one that is in big pieces after a PO hit a Kangaroo at speed, which I’ll be rebuilding and selling as a “Track Day” bike with an imported US frame, a nice one here is worth K0 money now. I’m pretty happy that I swapped a K1 Bitsa for the first one, and swapped a VTR1000F engine and 500 bucks for the remains of the second one, plus a few hundred for the US frame and shipping. Not my favourite bikes, but worth hanging onto. ;D

I had a 2005 Black and dark charcoal grey model.  The Hayden models have definitely been going up in price.  I was at a trackday yesterday and a guy was riding a super clean 2004 Hayden signature model in the expert group.  Everyone was glad he didn't put a scratch on it after riding it like a raped ape.

Well this time next week I'll be on day three of my Magical Mystery Tour" ride 2000 KM (1200 miles) from Hervey Bay in Queensland back to Melbourne on my shiny new (to me) BMW R1100RT. Today was such a nice day though, that I had to take the ol' K0 for Frank's "22 rides in 2022" ride #3, another 130 mile pie run. The K0 just keeps going better than ever, and apart from the fact that it was a bit hot with my jacket, gloves, boots and helmet today, I had a great ride. ;D

Thanks guys, I worked up until lunchtime on Friday, then the wife and mother in law took me out for lunch. Got some nice presents (not motorcycle related) and am happy that I made it to 62, my older brother didn't make it to 59. ;D

You can have a goal to make 62 rides this year, Terry!
Next year 63!

You can ride all year around.
62/12 to get the monthly average numbers. (5.16)
Or reduce with too hot or rainy months.

I can not do any rides between November-March due to this f*cking climate!

I hatched late so I'm still young, 61!
So my goal for 2022 can be (61/12)x7=36 rides 2022 ;)

50 miles rides will be perfect as in the 2022 rides thread.

Thanks Per, once I retire in 2025 I'll be able to do at least 65 rides and so on for awhile, but definitely not at the moment. Still, 3 rides down and with luck another 4 next (extra long) weekend when I ride the Bavarian Murder Weapon down from Hervey Bay, so the 22 for 2022 should be easy peasy, all going well. ;D

It should be great fun Per, I haven't been outside of Victoria for the last two years due to Covid-19, so I'm really looking forward to flying to Queensland, and riding the 2000 Km back to Victoria via Dubbo. (for the Kawasaki Z1 50th anniversary shindig) ;D

I haven’t really contributed to this thread, because I was late to the party. But I do have an observation. And frankly, it doesn’t just apply to this thread, but most everyone we generate on this and other forums.

We take our wonderful machines and we go to wonderful places and we take wonderful pictures…of just the machines! I wish we would take and/or include more pictures of the people AND the machines. The machines will be here after we are gone, but the people need to be recorded as well.

Terry, take pictures of yourself AND that KO next time you go out for ride #4!

No!  I have been around here long enough to know what Terry looks like!  You DON"T want to ask him that!
If it works good, it looks good...
