My BMW Mini with standard manual transmission warns you not to coast with engine out of gear. I wonder if they have a bearing or bearings that are lubed by a running transmission that idling wouldn’t flow enough oil for…or is it a safety thing with the driven wheels needing to be engaged for safety? Or, it could be that you don’t have the dynamic stability control or dynamic traction control capabilities when coasting out of gear?

I guess gearbox bearings.
A friend repaired a car  gearbox where the ball bearing was shot. Probably lack of lubrication. It sat where oil did not splash enough?
The new bearing was double sealed like 2RSH but with blue seals.
I wonder how long that will work?
I saw an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they replaced a double sealed bearing inside clutch on a Porsche that was infameous to wear out. Special kit with not sealed bearing and oil hose lubing it via oil filter adapter.....

All this has made me to think about the wheel bearings on my bikes.
Honda put lots of grease in hub, bearing sealed at outside only, metal seal. Maybe not that bad.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too fussed mate, we all know that just riding your bike is eventually gonna wear it out, but who fcuking cares, I'm still gonna ride mine. ;D

My CB77 pistons arrived today, everything is in really good shape. Now I just need that Kokusan ignition... Looks like there's an eBay seller in Germany but he doesn't ship to the States. That leaves CMSNL I guess.

Terry..... measured and assembled the fork tubes from vintagecb750.com today. Identical and everything slid together nicely. Seems OK for $140!

P.S. Their fork caps are not as nice. Had to knock most of the chrome off the threads with a wire wheel and even then (with lots of anti seize compound) it felt like I was forcing them in the first time. The old, stock Honda part threaded in by hand..... Lesson learned, pay the price.

I'd simply soak them in vinegar up to the top of the threads, it'll narrow the threads more than you'd imagine, likely 0.015" won't be out of the question after. 3 days. Cheap & easy.

I hate to imagine little bits of hard chrome chewing up those threads while you're installing them under spring pressure  :o

Exactly..... I brushed most of it off on a wire wheel mounted to a bench top grinder. Coated with anti seize, they went in. Seem OK now, but woul not recommend them. Next set will come from Honda!

That's good to know, about both John. I'm pretty sure that Honda chromed the threads in theirs too, maybe they cut the threads deeper to make up for the plating? ;D

Need to write a list of all items and chech where to order. Prices differ very much. Yamiya is cheaper on some parts, CMSNl betternon other snd finaly  Andy Cepok wirh other German eBayers better on other parts.

I don’t like dealing with Andy Cepock, he’s an arrogant pr1ck. I bought an item from him and when it didn’t arrive after well over a month I asked him for tracking details he sent me an abusive reply, pretty much, “I sent it, what are you asking me for, don’t you know there’s a pandemic?” So I left him negative feedback. I won’t be buying anything else from him. ;D

What made it worse was that the tracking number took me to the German postal service website (all in German, with no English translation icon) and it only had one entry, which looked like he had told them that it was ready to send, but hadn’t moved for 5 weeks? Anyway yes I got the part, after around 10 weeks, which pissed me off. ;D

That's funny. We're installing a Delkavic 4 into 1 on the 80' GS 1100E and nobody is saying that we need to install the stock exhaust on it. I guess it's just too ugly.  8)

Stock pipes for both those bikes a good to have thing if planning to sell it as a stocker to get a higher price.

I have Lotus Root 4-4 pipes to use on my K6 I have no plans to sell.
Those $$$$ pipes better to sell separate to a very early bike restorer if that should be actual.

Because I built my 1975 Kawasaki Z1-B 900 (1100) from parts (I started with a bare from from a seller in Oz, then bought close numbered engine cases from a seller in the US, wheels from Oz and the US, forks from the US, etc etc) I initially bought a lot of repro stuff, which I'm "backing up" with good used OEM parts date stamped (all Z1 major components were date stamped) to suit my 1975 build.

I have a good used tank, sidecovers, ducktail, front and rear fenders, tank and sidecover badges on their way to Oz from Nils Menten in the US, so with all the other OEM parts I already have, the only parts I probably won't bother with is an OEM exhaust, for either of the Kawasakis. I have no need to ever sell them or put them back to stock, so when I turn up my toes, my sons can either keep riding them, or sell them, and the new owners can pony up the dough for repro pipes if they're gonna go down the restoration path, to me they're just bikes that I want to ride. Of course if I find some OEM pipes going cheap, I may jump on them, and hang them up with the other stuff. ;D
