Does anyone know why ape doesnt sell their rods anymore?

In the past they did small batches with probably 90% of them presold. It is expensive inventory to just have sit there. The rods were made by Crower. Check out the CycleX Super Rod with the ARP bolts.

I bought a set of the Ape rods a few years ago i guess, man time flies! Trying to gather other odds and ends now so i can start the build.
 I do have another question...... regarding rod bolt stretch. Instructions say to tighten the rod bolts to .0055 stretch. How do you measure stretch on the rod bolt? Micrometer?
 Also as far as plastiguage goes. What would i torque the rod bolts too while plastiguaging?

That batch had to have 8 sets sold to be ordered. Same with his first 1000 kits.

Sometimes especially with new rods and bolts  there are special instructions included for torquing.
I would follow those instructions if included. Sometimes the instructions call for torquing to a specific torque, backing it off, retorquing again sometimes to a higher torque, backing it off, and finally torquing to the specified stretch to achieve the proper mating/ seating of the bolt/nut to the new rod cap...some oem rod bolts call for special lubricant to be used during torquing....other specify engine oil...I like to use Loctite and bolt stretch when I can...

 Some rod bolts need 3 tightenings to break in to proper torque and spec. a total number before replacement. Moral of the story, don't wear them out with the plastigauge.

The APE rods are torque to stretch. They recommend 0.0055” stretch, worked out to about 33ft/lbs for me. You have to use the special lube that they include.
 You can re-use the ARP 2000 bolts as many times as you like, long as they haven’t stretched more than 0.001 of an inch.
