usually i don't ask for things, and manage to find some discarded trash or junk that works. but i'm gonna try here, or possibly add something like a service exclusively for this club...
well that changed a little recently, i posted a topic of looking for a carburetor rack for cb400f 1976 i didn't have any high hopes of anyone letting any go. and a member here generously offered one, half way around the world. said he's never opened it up so he didn't know about its condition. he runs a facebook cb400f page (I've never been to that, facebook clean now for 6 or 7 yrs,) the price was 150 euro plus 60 or 70 shipping, from Italy.
So I thought what are the chances of someone halfway around the globe would scam a deal and send a pile of carbs that could never work? i told him i wanted them, but i asked if he could hear the floats move by tilting it back and forth, and without images of the slides, i asked for an image showing them on one side. he did open the bowls to confirm there were parts in it. 270.00 was sent. a couple weeks later it shows up kind of looking like on the verge of its last shot. opening the bowls were with a moderate corrosion level, no towers were eaten away. the jets are factory and maybe removed 1 time or 2. the caps i don't think was ever removed from new. i'll bet the carb has less than 5000 to 10000miles on them. i pulled the jet holders or emulsion tubes out, the first one i got out from removing the slide, and then i realized they've never been out, so the other 3 emulsion tubes i got out by slipping a wire connector plastic jacket with slot cut over the needle and tap tap taped them out, i'm not even gonna check the needle position, i got a feeling they're in the center. i can't get the float needle jets out, i'm gonna try them out and see what they do. their needles have a very clean and light mark where they seat. i'm pretty stoked about that, the guy could've sent rocks taped in an egg carton, and what could I have of done? my main interest was that the jets were original kehins, and a diamond in the rough shows up.
so does anyone got orings for wholesale prices? if not what's the chances of I'll buy bulk mainjet orings, needle jet orings, drain plug orings and float bowl orings (just for cb400f 1976) from quality company, i think the last i checked was if you buy 40 at a time, they'd sell them. and at that price turns them into pennies a piece not no 4 dollars a piece. and if anyone on his site needed any, they'd get that price, and no shipping cost, i'd mail em first class, put them in an envelope with a postage stamp. no paypal or credit card, send the nearest dollar and a stamp donation in an envelope, and i'll mail you orings. if it cut into someones 200+% markup i'd feel really bad about it, but that's about as far as i'd go.
