I kept the torn but nice K4 seat off my brothers bike and remember selling a pan, cover and a foam insert. The cover was short front to back as reported by others back in the day. I had measured it and a 500 Honda guy used it on his seat. No pans in stock but i did find a piece of paint lock sheet metal that would make repair pieces.

I'm planning on a set of candy gold tins from a member, if I can get them it will bring this project to a new level since they will make the rest of the bike appear shabby. My wife got e mail previews of the mail and it appears that Vermont finally got around to sending the registration and sticker for the plate I already have.
I was looking into antique plates for the other two K0's  but it appears Illinois has shut down making the plates at this time. Registration offices are also closed.

I'm hoping to do something special with this, I'll know soon. Next up, I'll return the carbs to stock jetting in anticipation of a K0 airbox.

I'm always gobsmacked by the amount of K0's that are still getting pulled out of barns, Don, I was 'rapt to just find the remnants of a rotten frame (less front wheel) from Brisbane 1000 miles away, which cost me several times what you paid for your poo brown K0. Luckily I'd had the outer cases, head and cylinder block from a '69 K0 vapor blasted several years ago, so it only took me a couple of months to build a bike out of it.

I wish I could find another mostly complete one like yours, though it'll never happen here, we didn't get many K0's, and the ones we got were flogged mercilessly back in the day, and just about everything I bought to build my bike came from the US. ;D

I don't have them in hand and don't want to jinx it, but I just pulled the trigger on a gold tin set.  I was going through parts in the shop. There area few late K0 (71 title) parts left I may assemble them into a pile and see how much I can put together to make a project for someone.

That looks pretty good Don, OEM, or repops? I think I’ll buy a Yamiya set for my K1 build, I’ve got a heap of K0 leftovers to help fund it. ;D

OEM mostly, from a guy we know that I talked to on the Sandcast site. He decided not to build a gold bike and I am the lucky recipient of his unused parts. This is the proverbial gold wrinkle tank. I have some gorgeous emblems I got at the Davenport Ia. swap meet last year, an old Stanley sealed beam, much of the hardware. I broke the old poo brown sidecover that wasn't already broken tonight. Dangit, but that made it easier to remove the screen from the back side. I'm shy a nice cast gas cap though. I may take three pitted ones to a chrome shop to see what they can do with them unless there are good reproductions somewhere.

Yeah I’ve got a couple of cast gas caps, but they’re pretty puckered too. I managed to buy a set of OEM mirrors for cheap from a guy here, and I’ve got a NOS cap and petcock on the way from the US, if anyone at USPS is still alive?

You did well to find that gold wrinkle tank etc, that really is K0 treasure! I bought a good wrinkle tank, only to find out my 1/70 K0 isn’t supposed to have one, so I’ll sell it off with some other K0 stuff, I don’t intend to do another one. ;D

There has been discussion of wrinkle tanks being found on newer K0's. Claimed to be original but who knows? We do know Honda was going full speed ahead and used whatever was there. Like red foam in k2 seats.
I thought my k2 was a genuine transition bike until I discovered no frame tag and no stamped numbers. It had been wrecked and repaired. A great bike to hot rod since originality has been compromised.

I got a few more parts today, I was going to take a buying break but couldn't wait. I ordered new reflectors for the gold set and got a few doo dads and ge gaws from ebay. At this point I'm collecting and assembling a parts stash in a spare bedroom and on the lift. Haven't touched the bike except to put on the Vermont plate and pick out the best of my stuff for it. I may polish the 4-2 and see how good I can make it look. Not much rust on the original chrome, I'd say it lived indoors most of it's life.
I found a gauge cover for my sandcast too, it's had a crack since I got it and it keeps growing.

I feel ya. I was "just going to rebuild my carbs over the winter." Now I have parts shipped out of state for repair; tracking/delivery notifications from multiple states, Japan, and Germany; three additional power/pneumatic tools, and lots of cardboard boxes! This is my first time getting "the bug" and it seems the only treatment is getting back out on the road.

Frank,  next up is "gold top re-issue"  or "Les Paul Gold Top" or  "gold rush"  "Re-cycled gold" That might be the best one.  Got any other good ones?
I got a cb750 key fob today, it's a late Christmas present, it's nice light and soft leather.  One of the 70's has both keys on one ring. Bad idea, I'll do something about that.
A speedometer repair is up next, I was going to combine a k1 speedo with a k0 modified top but I got enough parts to repair a proper K0 one.

I gave a thousand for it, offered another $200 to make the papers right. The old lady seller wasn't interested in giving up a death certificate from her husband that hoarded it. He apparently had lots of bikes. The kid I got it from cleaned the shed for her and got the bike as partial pay. Probably told her he junked it and kept it for free.
I need a couple gas cap gaskets a set of sidecover grommets and a stock air filter.  It had pod filters and has been jetted for them, it runs pretty good despite what I've been told about pods.  I'll hang on to the filters and jets for down the road.
I'm thinking conti twins for tires. They look correct, If I was smart I'd use the bike of the month tires with the Lesters and put stock rims back on the diecast.

I went through my gauge parts and somehow have two K1 tach faces with the 8K red line. Dangit.  I'm going to freshen my speedo since it was crunched in a barn accident.
I found a broken K0 plastic gauge housing that I had cut the bottom off, left the flange and had planned to crimp it to a k1 gauge housing to make a simulated K0 set. I may take some photos.

I'm slowly getting rid of all the Yamiya repro parts from Yamiya. I bought the NOS handlebars from France, and switches from John (Benelli SEI) in Canada last week, so I think the only non OEM Parts (apart from tyres, of course) is the seat, wiring harness and exhaust.

I'm about to send off a K0 disc to have a cast iron drilled disc rotor from my favourite engineer mounted to a spare K0 disc carrier and I'm gonna buy braided brake lines, but "Red Dawn" is a rider, not a hider, so I don't give a sh1t about "originality", I want a nice reliable bike that actually stops. ;D

Stops when YOU want! ;D

It is a little dangerous with more than 2 bikes if any of them has weak stopping power.

My K6 with dual stock type brakes  really stop quick at higher speeds while my K2 with single brake does not.  It's more like an acceleration damper.

Plan the ride, see what happens in time with no expectations of hard braking in not legal speeds.

If riding my K2 after a longer period of K6, I need to be careful.

Both bikes have the DSS aftermarket discs that work a little bit better than stock. I'll see if my single disc gets better pads. Now cheap DSS pads as my dual discs K6 has with good brakes.

Yeah, regardless of how many discs you install on a K0-K6, with the stock the calipers, the brakes are still sh1t compared to anything built after 1985 Per. On your hotted up K6 you need to think about installing something better, (like the Beringer conversion) that thing would be a death trap at the speeds it's probably capable of now! ;D

It can stop good enough which I have tested when driving in about 180kmh and very sudden found a very slow going car driven by an old hag in around 60kmh too much to the middle just after a hilltop of a country side road where most drive 70-80kmh.
Meeting traffic forced me to use the brakes at max. First time i heard screaming front tire on that bike. ;)

If racing a different thing when possible to brake later. Probably using another fork too.

I have not been able to find Beringer caliper to fit late K2-K6 fork. A complete bolt on kit might be interesting.
