Early Koni, they got like 5 or 7 damping adjustments  inside.  I have set them a few tiimes..
 These clutch plates any fit top of shock...

Yep, they’re the Koni’s off my K0 Frank, I must pull them apart and replace the rubbers and damping fluid, and put them back on. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Sure Terry, I'm always ready for an idea. I have a 20 ton HF press so I'm thinking that might be of some use. The spring cover is what keeps my car spring compressor from working.  I only have one set of three adjustment setting shocks and need two, still some planning to do.
  I'm compelled to upgrade my diecast whenever possible and it's sporting a pair of dohc shocks which work great but look wrong. My brother sorted out some parts he bought and left them laying in his driveway. Months later, I pulled them out of a snow drift, I'm always saving orphan parts. I saw a set of $76 dollar shocks on ebay, I'm tempted to buy them just for the covers and springs.

 I'm wondering if I hole saw and sand a piece of 1" plywood to fit the top of the spring cover, invert it and press the bottom of the shock until the locks come loose?

How about this to compress your springs??

Thanks Don, I might do that. The old aluminium body ones are sometimes impossible to disassemble without destroying them due to electrolysis, but if I can get the steel ones apart, I will. I think I'll just add it to my K0 thread, as that's where they came from. ;D

How about not without safety straps or a cage.. drill press be safer imo..

 I solved the problem of what to do about shocks by bolting the new K0 repro shocks with 5 adjuster notches on my Blue green diecast bike. It had the dohc shocks on it, which work great but look different.
  The only issue is the repro's clevis is a tad wide, the bolt didn't want to catch the threads until I put the squeeze on them. A longer bolt interferes with the 4-4 exhaust so it's difficult to fit in there. I used the stock bolts, loosened the muffler mount to get some room and cranked them tight.   
 Now, the soon to be gold bike still needs shocks. 
  If I was made of money I'd buy a set of each of the repros and see what the differences are.  I can't help wonder if some of the ebay $150 to $300 shocks are just the $75 shocks in a nicer wrapper. 

  When I think about compressing springs I remember hearing about a guy my brother knew  that lost his front teeth when a spring sprung out at him.  owwwww.

I have seen different upper mounts. The cheaper shock look really cheap and bad.

Looks can be deceiving Per, I have the cheapest of cheapies ($70 USD) on my bike, and they still sh1t all over the originals. ;D

  Terry, for $70 those 2 fast moto shocks have the correct number of coils showing and covers to use to rebuild stockers. There are a couple sets of NOS K0 original Honda shocks for a cool thousand on ebay. woohoo!

Thanks Don, I know that the K0 springs are slightly shorter and have a smaller OD than K1-K6 shocks as I "mixed and matched" some K2 shocks with K0 springs and covers on my "Swamp Rat" bike. I bought those cheapies here in Oz with the intention of just using them until I refurb the Koni's, I'm thinking of painting them silver, and putting a set of K0 shrouds over them to make them look a bit more like Honda ones from 20 feet away. Not worried if I can't though, those old Koni's are beautiful shocks, and am looking forward to not jolting my kidneys as much as I currently am. ;D

 This bike may have cooked a battery or been overfilled a lot during it's running years, the battery box area has a lot of surface rust. I need to decide whether to do a full restoration or just a safety update getting bearings and brakes in shape.
 My original plan was a quickie get it running and resale but I'm liking the idea of owning the three K0 colors and showing them together at my car show.

As long as you're riding it Don, I hate those old farts who trailer their showbikes to shows, then trailer them home again. They may as well just make statues of CB750's and put them on pedestals, what a waste of a motorcycle.......... ;D

Totally agree.......

In 2018 I helped a friend shuttle 14 of his bikes to a show a couple miles from his house. I drove his hacked HD and he rode the other bikes mostly but I did ride a couple of the bikes too. It made for a long day as it was a 2 hr process to the show and then 2 hrs back again. We had a blast.

 I'll ride them all but to get to a show I may ride one and tow 2 on my brothers trailer. Since I put on the shows,  I work a 16 hour day too so shuttle riding them might not work.
 My funnest idea is tow all three behind my 40 chevy coupe. It already has an insert trailer hitch so it's literally a trailer queen but by a different definition.

I read your first paragraph Don and was wondering how you were gonna tow two CB750's behind another one? I have thought about building a small single bike trailer to tow behind my Triumph Rocket III, with 141 BHP and 147 foot pounds of torque at the back wheel, I reckon it'd make a great bike tow vehicle? And I think you need to post a pic of that car! ;D

For a long time I was known among Central Illinois Drag Racers as the guy that towed two jr dragsters and a 3 wheeler to the track behind the 40 Chevy.  My youngest daughter and I built the trailer low with a tilt deck so we could unload easy at the races.   It towed good behind an 86 Monte Carlo SS too.

 It's got a 30 over 350 Chevy with a wide ratio Muncie 4 speed. Air tique AC unit, a Mustang 2 front suspension and a 4 linked 9" ford posi rear out of an Edsel.  It needs paint these days.

Leave that paint just how it is Don, I'd be proud to drive it. I don't know much about Edsel's except that they were (at the time) considered on of the ugliest cars ever produced but I believe they're quite collectable now? And they had a posi rear end? Might have been a "function over form" kind of car? Anyway, your "pre-Edsel" looks magnificent! ;D

Don, How long ago were you on the drag racing scene in Central Illinois? Dad was out of the scene by the mid-70's when my sister and I were born. But from the late 60's thru the early 70's he was all GTOs, Trans-Ams, and some custom work on the classic model below. Based in Monticello, IL but racing a lot at Motion Raceway, Assumption, IL.
