Many automotive parts were in short supply even before the stimulus money. The folks still working at normal pay rates found themselves with vacation, movie, restaurant, bar, casino money that they didn't spend and time on their hands. Home furnishings and appliances are in a similar state of supply.
Menards sold record amounts of interior house paint last year.

My new Z1 parts upper brake hose leaks fluid at the bottom crimp. I don't think it got on the new gold paint. I sent them a return request and am heading to the PO'ed thread.

That bites Don... Hope they respond quickly and ship you a new hose. Glad you didn't have any paint damage.

David, I'm waiting on a check for another deal and when it comes I'll get to ups and ship those lowers.
I talked to Z1 this morning, they called back said to toss the bad brake hose and they would send another right out. Thanked me for patience and being a customer.

Eastwood internal exhaust coating is due Saturday. I put the 341's back in the boxes for safe keeping. I have a pillion bolt somewhere, need to look in the K0 stuff one more time.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Have you got any crappy HM 341’s for sale Don? I’m building the Horrible K2 for a mate who’s a master metal fabricator, he wants it “original” but I’ve only got two or 3 pipes, so I need to make up a set, which he’ll repair. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, I sold 3 of them to David Silver with 5 no number Yamiya's I got from him. Ironic isn't it?  They were on 2 bikes.

No worries. I bought a heap of stuff from Cruisinimage yesterday and was pissed off with their $511 shipping bill, well today they refunded $331 USD, so was pretty happy with that. ;D

Cruisinimage.net should inform about refund for shipping.
I reduced an order due to that. I realized how it work when I got refund on the rather low shipping I had.
Correct info on package to ensure minimal problems at customs.

With Ebay making money on shipping fees it is in their best interest to inflate those amounts. If they make money on 10% of auctions asa results those pennies amount to a very large number quickly.

Yeah it’s the same here Per, I really wanted two sets of fork tubes, but when I saw the shipping quite, I cut it back to one? Now I need to order another set! ;D

Hey Don, have you had a good look at the CMSNL pipes yet? There’s an Aussie guy on the CB750 FB page who bought a set and he’s less than happy with them, he reckons he’ll need to send at least one back because it just doesn’t fit, another one has a weld burn hold in it, the two with the “Dimples” in them are almost completely closed off as the dimples are too deep, etc etc. I’m interested to see what you think of yours? ;D

Actually I dinged a no number pipe once and got gun shy of taking them out of the box. I did notice a flat spot in one head pipe that seemed unusually deep. I guess my project for me and my grandson today will be to take them out and inspect.

We looked them over, the indents seem pretty deep but I think the original 341 pipes looked pretty similar. Hot Rod TV did a dyno test on dinging headers. They did a dyno pull and then dinged headers as if to make clearance for a spark plug or tie rod. As I remember they beat several of the pipes over half way flat before seeing any change in horsepower.
I'm not worried, If I felt like I needed horsepower I'd run one of the headers hanging around here.
It is ironic that I'm putting 4-4 pipes on my bikes and hanging 4-1 headers from the rafters, opposite of the Honda shops in the day.
I'll post links to the photos after they upload to google photos and ask on the tech page for opinions.
DSS was selling off his seconds of these pipes at a reduced price. I should have bought a set of those. The balance tubes are particularly not impressive, I'll likely make an internal connector tube like my last set of Yamiya pipes had.

I looked inside one and rust has begun, probably due to the chrome process. I'm not pleased with that, I'll coat the insides anyway and hope they don't rust out in my lifetime. (safe bet at 68?)
My preference is the Yamiya no number pipes, too bad I can't get any right now.

Edit, I boxed them back up, they were well packaged and I'm not ready to install them.

Yep, I laugh inwardly at guys who spend big bucks on OEM 4 into 4's (one set of new HM300's sold for $6K here recently) when the first thing we'd do "back in the day" was pull those heavy POS off and throw them in the trash, and install an RC or Yoshi 4 into 1 pipe. No offence to anyone here, yes I know it adds to the bike's value, but one guy I knew had the HM300's on his K1 rust out in under two years from when he bought the bike new!

My cuz told me the best way to keep them rust free is to run a little two stroke (the synthetic smokeless type is fine) for the first couple of tankfuls of gas, and that way you'll "mist" oil through every nook and cranny of your new pipes, and they won't rust out. Look at old 2 stroke bikes, apart from surface rust from the outside, how many have you seen rust from the inside out? ;D

I use the amzoil 2 stroke oil in my bikes, half to protect the tank and half to protect any part of the exhaust the internal coating didn't cover. I used to start my bought new cb500 in the winter to keep the carbs cleaned out, had no idea I was rotting out the pipes. They rusted out quickly too. I put a set of action fours 4-2 shorties on it.

You’ve gotta love action fours stuff, I have a set of their heavy duty valve springs in a tub somewhere that I’ll use on my hotrod K1. I’m thinking seriously about a 970 kit, but I really don’t want to bore the cases out for the bigger sleeves? K1’s are getting good money here, so I might do a K2 instead. Decisions, decisions..... ;D

I hear that. Every time I start to build my hot rod bike, a K0 comes along. I put my resources towards a best return in that investment.  Also, I seem to have gathered a bunch of bikes that were owned by guys I knew or know and feel an attachment.

I couldn't help myself Don, I bought a NOS RC 970 kit and sleeves, I'm not gonna go mad with HD rods, primary chains etc, I'll just use an F2 head and mild cam, and build a torque monster. should be fun. ;D
