Winter gloves
« on: October 18, 2020, 05:38:20 AM »
My nonames from ebay are falling apart, I will need to get a new pair.

What gloves do you wear in winter and would you buy them again?

I've used cheap ski gloves from K mart, I was 50 miles from home with cold hands. Cheap but so thick it was difficult to grip.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I have some leather gauntlets from the brand Castle.  Very nice quality that has lasted for several years.  They are thinsulate lined, but I feel like I have had warmer.  Nice big gauntlets that cover the sleeve opening are utmost importance.  I think I paid around $70-$80 and they may have been on sale at local mc dealership.

I had some swap meet cheapo-s that were warmer, but everytime you took them off, the liner would try to come out of the fingers, and if it did?, that's a twenty minute job trying to stuff it back in there.  So beware of that super annoying problem.

Lots of guys swear by wearing surgical gloves under the warm ones, but I can't stand that slimy feeling.  Plus, try getting a box of surgical gloves these days!
If it works good, it looks good...

My own winter gloves are Olympia Wind-Tex 4350 (made in China) and they do OK for my day rides. Nice gauntlet, wiper blade on thumb. $50? at Rosenau on Ford rd in Dearborn Heights.
If I was facing 500 miles of cold weather riding, I might get some hippo hands.

Chemical packs and heated gear come to mind as well.
+1 on good gauntlets.

Looks like Olympia 4350 close out $60 replaced by 4352.

Electrical heated clothing as was up in another thread about charging is suddenly not a bad idea!

I have these along with a heated jacket by the same manufacturer.  They work great and I haven't had any trouble with the charging system or rides of 1 hour or shorter.

I use a pair of Cortech Goretex gauntlet gloves. The have kept my hands warm and dry in some pretty miserable conditions. I think they were around $100 new but I got them off Craigslist in like new condition for $25.
