CB500 to CB750 interchangeability
« on: December 12, 2019, 03:58:55 AM »
I'm building a CB 750 F dohc hardtail with a stock cb500 front end on it and I been trying to get 2" or maybe even 4" over legs for her 500 forks and can't find 'em anywhere. So does anybody know the reason why 750 and 500 legs aren't interchangeable but for only that they are different lengths? CB500 legs are 564 mm long and i know the 750's are like around 580 or so but they're all 35 mm OD so why can't you exchange 'em. Someone out there musta tried to eh! Hoping I don't have to buy 'em just to find out either way.

If you didnt get an answer, I'm intested in knowing also.   When you cite "leg" length of 564mm (22.5 inches), what exactly are you measuring it.  Is this the inner tube only?
My bike has tubes that extend about 4 inches above the top of the triple tree top bracket.    I'm trying to find some original length forks. ..but first I need to know what that length is.
