78 K8 sidestand question
« on: October 18, 2020, 12:39:25 PM »
I finally got my 750 running again after 10 yrs.  I noticed the sidestand is directly rubbing on the #1 pipe and the rubber pad is on #2 pipe.  HM405 pipes.  Are these the correct pipes for this bike? Is it possible to install pipes on the wrong cylinder? Or do you think I have the wrong sidestand
Thanks

Or straighten it . We don't know what you even have, there are at least 4 kinds.

Just hold on, the foot on bottom looks like made for that angle, so straighten may not fix everything. Did the bike have other pipes on it when you got it ? I think it may be worth checking what it should have come with to compare.

Those pipes and stand were on it.  Don't have a torch big enough to heat this up.  I looked online at the part designated for this model and it looks straight

I'm pretty sure it's bent. I've got K8's in the garage that I can confirm later. Could be a sidestand from another make/model that someone repurposed or the stock one may have been modified for a lowered suspension. Got to verify everything else is stock before trying to revert the sidestand back to stock...

Just to close this out.   I got another stand and it was straight like everyone else. Put it on and all is good. Doesn't hit the pipe anymore
Thanks everyone for the input
