CB750K Crank Dowel?

Howdy y'all,

I need your help with something that I can't seem to figure out.  The spark advancer has a hole on the back side that looks like it should line up with a slightly larger hole on the end of the crank.  I didn't see a dowel in the parts guide, and I'm stumped.

Is there supposed to be a dowel there?
Can someone provide a part number for this piece?

That dowel, or pin, is part of the advancer, and not available as a separate part; it was originally pressed into the hole. Yes, it is definitely needed, as it indexes the advancer to the crankshaft, and without it there is no way to set the ignition timing by the marks.
I have seen the pins in 3mm and 4mm, while the crankshaft hole is 4mm. You *might* be able to fabricate a replacement pin to press in, but it would be easier to just buy a replacement advancer. ;)

Per the title, he has a 750K, Wilbur. ;) From what I've seen, the 750 advancers from K1 through K7 at least are interchangeable.

I seem to recall some variations but do not know specifically what changed when...

Ham fisted P.O. use the large nut over the point shaft to turn a seized piston and snapped the drive pin off?

It's a CB750K5.  I don't know what happened to the pin.  It may have fallen out when I disassembled it.  Are they usually pressed in pretty tight or is it easy for them to come out?

I would expect they are at least pressed in. I've never seen and advancer without the pin.
