Anytime where you can find a brown K1 where the paint isn't turning back into the green base coat on the top of the tank/headlight bucket is a good thing. That color like some other Honda candies liked to fade away.

I have been looking for a low mile parts bike.

 :) :) :) :)

Not mentioned in the text, but photographed, is the busted gas tank cap latch.
A nice set of reference photos for those seeking originality.

New bikes came in crate with forks resting on foam pads, wheel wrapped in plastic, fender and stay in cardboard box, wish I had photo.

Unique colour. I had one a few years ago. Local guy is still riding it, don’t see many around here. My photos “flybackwards” too!

If you look at the pictures of the tank closely it shows the gold stripe is actually a sticker.  There was always some question as to when Honda stopped painting the gold stripes.  This is a later K1 so it appears that at some point during K1 production Honda was using stickers on top of the paint.

The other interesting thing is the dabs of yellow paint all over the place.  Honda really went to town with that stuff.

The question no one wants to ask so I will. Is it a riding bike or is it destined to a life of being a looking at bike? What would I do? dunno. part of me says its a time capsule never been played with or molested so is a good reference for restorers and future historians. If ridden it is in danger of being just another CB750 K1. A very good one mind.

It is up to whoever buys it.

I doubt anybody will ever be riding that bike out on the street. I bet its destined to live out its life pampered on static display.

I had a 75 Z1 with 1700 miles, sat in my garage for ten years, recently set it free.

As in you rode it this summer or sold it ? That would be a rare find indeed to find a Z1B with that low of miles and not beat to death.

This appears to be a bug in the forum software.  The issue is IOS related - pretty much what you describe.  The coding required to correct flipped images is complicated enough that, from what I've read, the forum software developers do not expect a fix anytime soon.  I manually fixed the images in this thread by downloading them to a MacBook, opening and re-saving them and then uploading the resultant image.

$25,500 that's a lot of money for  a k1.  But, I doubt we'll see another new k1 for sale in our lifetime.  I wonder who the winner is. Museum or a collector in need of a piece to complete his feng shui.

From the comments it looks like a US bidder won it and it's going to a museum in Holland.  I'm in Holland a couple of times a year so hopefully I get to see it.

If I’m pushing these buttons correctly it’s a 5.6% return on investment.

I think Holland Europe.  The comments weren't specific but usually a state is mentioned if a lesser known city is involved.

Anytime where you can find a brown K1 where the paint isn't turning back into the green base coat on the top of the tank/headlight bucket is a good thing. That color like some other Honda candies liked to fade away.

That's 'cuz the Browns (two of them) were either Red-over Green or Green over-Red. The Red-over-Green is the Briar Brown (sometimes misspelled 'Brier' Brown) and the other, like mine was, is Garnet Brown. The Garnet Brown was the 'metalflake' brown, as the Green topcaoat was the Valley Green Metallic, a rare (and beautiful) rendering.

My tank bag wore thru the green on mine by 1979, exposing the red. It was then that I began to discover how these brown bikes appeared. If you look closely at any of the brown ones, you will find a flaw somewhere, under the topcoat, that led to this "saving" of the parts by adding a different topcoat.

;)
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Before and after repaint. You can see a gasoline spill, knee rub marks, faded to green sidecovers.
When I got a compliment on my original green bike, I knew it was time for the repaint.

There is a brand new cb750f2 that was on a dealership floor for many years here in Toronto. The shop closed about 5 years ago and the bike went to good hands and stayed local. So they're still out there.

I'm sure this one will be a looker for the rest of time. It's like that CBX that sold still in the crate. You'll never find another like it. I'm reminded of this $13,250 K1 (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-honda-cb750-6/) that recently sold. Looks presentable but needs everything, and a mediocre restoration with many incorrect parts or cheap repops but still a high dollar bike.

I'll keep on riding my K1 to work when it's 30* with a chance of snow in the afternoon. I like originality but I also like seeing the old iron used as intended. Granted mine was no low mile cherry.
