My Kawasaki KLR650
« on: November 06, 2020, 04:30:48 PM »
My newest motorcycle is my 2008 Kawasaki KLR650. It’s the only new motorcycle I’ve ever purchased new. We actually bought two at the same time, my wife’s is blue, mine is red. I fitted a slightly taller windscreen, cheap GIVI hard bags, and an aftermarket centre stand.

Today was +70 degrees F, and sunny. Rode about 120 miles, running a few errands. All back roads, some gravel...... what a great bike! Starts instantly, quiet, torquey, cruises on asphalt and handles really well on loose gravel. In 17 years I’ve done a few sets of tires, sprockets and chains and spent an afternoon getting to change a spark plug and check valve clearances (after all that effort they were spot on). It’s only got a simple, single carb, which I’m sure would be easy to work on, but I never have. Someone asked me the other day if it has electronic ignition? I assume so, but have never looked. It does get frequent oil/filter changes.

What a GREAT motorcycle!
