Very cool tool for rotating tank while derusting
« on: September 29, 2020, 11:12:52 AM »
Saw this post of a very cool rotisserie setup for agitating a tank, spinning it in two axis to let drywall screws help break up any rust while derusting the interior of motorcycle fuel tanks. It is pretty cool.

He further refined the tool and attached a series of pulleys to rotate the tank a full 360 degrees while it is rotating. It is in the comments on this site...

If you have ever handled a full fuel tank and agitated it for any length of time you will know it is a punishing job and it is a long job. Other than the racket, this is a very cool way to eliminate that back breaking job.

It could also be used for spreading the liner on a tank or keeping the liner from pooling in one spot as it dries. You usually pour out the excess but it can pool in an area as it skins over and gravity drags it to lower points of the tank. Just put some plastic down beneath it and tape off your tank so you don't have liner drip or run on the exterior paint or to minimize clean up later.
