You should have cleaned inside before paint.
I cleaned with degreaser, mashine dishwasher powder solution in hot water and a brush.
Finalized with pressure washer flushing inside and oil channels.

Keep an eye on the rubber end plug on left side of lower case. It will fly when flushing water in hole for oil pump in case.

If only miscolor, no debris that can come loose, no problem.

Drive chain cleaner spray is  really good for dirt like that. Spray, brush and rinse. Tissues too.

Thanks, I know ;)
I did have it submerged in the bathtub a few times and hit it with degreaser etc. before painting so it was very dry when painting.
It was only now I thought maybe it could be better.

I'm not sure I know which plug you're referring to? I'm pretty sure I have everything out.
Don't you mean the left oil galley plug in the top case?

Btw PeWe. Are you Swedish? I'm in Denmark  ;)

Yes, Sweden. There is only one small rubber plug sitting in the case on shifter side. I saw mine fly when cleaning the cases with my pressure washer. I saw where it landed.
After that bought one when order oil pump restore kit.

Try drive chain cleaner. I ordered Motul Drive chain cleaner by mistake. Mixed it up with lube.

It was the best chemical when cleaning my stock K6 carbs for my K2 build. Old corroded stuff awaw really quick.

On another note..
My very good friend set this up this evening so we could make the correct grooves in a set of FAG bearings.

Great little video, machinist tools are so cool. As a former machinist I miss working with them.

Rubber plug was earlier sold by Vital Motor Parts. I bought one here with Oil pump restore kit
https://www.ebay.com/str/vitalmotorparts?rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=0
Ask when open again.

Can be this one. The photo show a very big close-up? It is max 10mm dia.

I'm about to button up.
Am I not correct that all these oil seals go OUTSIDE the engine case?
.. and the one on the far right is behind the rotor which I did not remove

There is no seal behind the rotor but there is one behind the points

I'm pretty sure the seal on the right is #17 here in the starter cog, right?

Item 17 is an oil seal. Included in the oil seal kits with 7 seals.

I replaced when I had the alternator rotor off.
Important to see (feel) which way the lips are facing before removal so the new seal will be flipped right.
Seal keeps the oil away. Lips aims against the area with oil.

Do not trust the outer look of an oil seal, they can look different. It is the direction of the sealing lip(s) that counts.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that I can close the cases. This seal will be changed later. I don't have the tools to pull the rotor.

Do it all the time. Armourcoat 1615 Aluminum engine paint, using their primer. It’s DAYS of prep work for a really good finish.

It takes a lot of time depending on what outcome you want. On my 550 I hand filed and smoothed every fin on the motor. I don't keep track of the time, I just turn on the music and work. ;D This is Duplicolor alumiinium engine paint and primer with Seymour MRO black.

That is one of the cleanest motors i have seen. Well Done!
