So, you don't ride in rain or it handles it alright? Most auto gauges expect to ne out of the weather. I still have a couple old 52mm VDO Volvo gauges from when I owned 240 Volvos driving them for 26-27 years. 240s were rugged, over engineered car thst cpuld easily be made to handle much better and become entertaining driving on curvy roads by limiting body roll (sway bars), suspension alignment changes, and some chassis stiffening of strut towers and a good set of H or V rated tires...

Using a Volvo VDO gauge on my Honda motorcycle might offend many bikers.

Prospect, that would be off the black wire from the switch.

You could use it as a trigger for a small relay (key turned on and energizes black wire from switch and a added wire from black
that powers the relay contacts to operate the relay) and then you pull the power for the voltmeter (new wires) directly from the battery terminals with a fuse on the positive from the battery to the voltmeter.

its been caught in the rain a few times,i bought it new from a marine place,might be sealed better?
