1973 NOS CB350 Four Fuel Tank
« on: November 22, 2020, 07:01:36 PM »
I have a 1973 NOS CB350 Four Fuel Tank (without Badges) that has never been installed on a bike before.  I plan on selling the tank but I have no idea what the tank is worth.  I have seen New Old Stock tanks for sale on eBay with a wide range of prices.

Rather than putting it on eBay I would like to offer it to the member s here first.  Let me know what you think a fair price would be.

Worth more if it has the (hard to find) fuel tap.

By the fuel tap do you mean the holes for the petcock?  Because it has the three holes... two are tapped/threaded.

So what should I ask for it?

$400?   Could possibly be worth more if you had the matching side covers

Steve-o, $400? That would be a bargain. Most of the NOS tanks on EBay sell for much more.
Unless there is little demand for 350F tanks I would guess that tank is worth double that.

Yeah, but this aint eBay and he said he didnt want to sell it on eBay which to me, means he wants to help one of us out selling a nice tank for a reasonable price.

Bottom line: it is worth what someone is willing pay for it.

The ebay tank that 69cb750 posted is interesting to me.  That certainly isn't from the 1970s.  Honda was making painted parts available into the 90s and 2000s.  There are new OEM Honda painted headlights and fork ears on ebay in most of the early colors but they are also from the 90s / 2000s.  If you were to put that tank on a K0, is it considered original?

depends on definition of original and what judge or organization you're with. A new, NOS tank from honda, no matter the year, ( and identical to the original year part)is an original tank, replacing a banged up tank with that tank and the bike is pristine.....you have an original bike, the AMCA says so. Actually, it's an original, unrestored bike. Put a new, yamiya tank on the bike and that would make the bike unoriginal, and restored. Or,at least, an original bike with a repainted tank....5 point reduction... It is in original condition, but not original.
Now anyone can make a false presentation, but I can tell you that there are judges out there that really know their stuff.
So, does that mean you can take a pristine bike with busted side covers, tank, blinkers, etc., , replace them with correct NOS parts and say it is original, unrestored?.....ummm, well, yeah......unless others know, someone would have to prove otherwise.
Technically, any repainted, or aftermarket part makes the bike unoriginal
This is a short answer......I'm talking judging meets........so have at it....

actually, after looking at all the pics, the gas cap is the required update that an original tank would not have had on it, so, it wouldn't be original....
But if the cap was the button release as originally on the K0, it would be original ...

OEM doesn't necessarily mean NOS....original needs NOS....
Need to start a new thread maybe.....hijacking this one...
