« on: December 05, 2020, 02:46:13 AM »
i have a set of 64mm pistons and rings the oil ring has a oval mark with a mark through on the right of the gap so i assume it is the top
the middle ring which is a darker colour than the top ring has a R right of the gap which i think is the top the one which i think is the top ring has a chrome finish but no marks but the top 2 rings have a very slight lip on the underside sorry it is so hard to explain
will clean the pistons to see if any marks DD

Those are pretty bad pics.
The top (compression) ring is usually flat but I suppose it could be slightly tapered, if tapered the taper would instinctively go thick side up to hold compression.
The second (oil control) ring is always tapered and goes with thick part down, to scrape oil down off the bore.
The oil drain ring assembly, I don't believe the thin rings have any taper but I think they should scrape down if they do.
