About time...
« on: November 30, 2020, 12:16:44 AM »
Hey everyone,

I have been navigating these forums for some time without a proper introduction and figured it's about time.

I'm originally from Spain, but moved to the US (L.A.) about 6 years ago, where I've found my home. I started riding at the early age of 6, with a tiny little dirt bike. Today I ride old Hondas and old Choppers.

My first bike in L.A. was a cafed-out 1972 CB750, which I loved. Unfortunately I got into a very nasty accident where I broke both of my legs and one arm, with a total of 11 bone fractures and 4 surgeries. You can imagine how the bike ended... Once I learned how to walk again I got back on the road, this time on a '74 Shovelhead. I missed that Honda for a long time and at the beginning of 2020, I decided to get a CB750 again.

Quarantine has been a blessing in disguise. With so much free time on my hands I decided to put all my energy into building my own dream bike. It was quite an amazing experience. A lot of things I didn't know how to do and had to learn on the fly... All the metal fabrication, welding, seat fabrication, upholstery, hand stitching the custom grips/kick, etc.

Anyway, here's the transformation:

The result

I wanted to keep some of the original parts, to preserve the soul of the bike while giving it a more updated and clean look. For example I chose to keep the hand controls but stripped the paint and polished them. I did retrofit an early K oil tank, I've never been a fan of the super sport ones. A lot of work went into this bike as you can see. Most recently I've upgraded the carbs and air filters.

After finishing this project, 2 people approached me to build them a bike, so now I'm deep into 2 projects and a 3rd one waiting. Not sure where this road will take me but for now I'll enjoy the ride.

I still have a lot to learn, but I'm very grateful for this forum and I hope one day I can offer the same help I've received.

Welcome aboard Dave
Nice job on your bike and great you've got some projects too.

There is a group of 750 riders in the SoCal area that get out for rides. If you are on Facebook it's
https://m.facebook.com/groups/162431967718993/?ref=group_browse
If you aren't on fb I can get you the contact info for Ted the admin of the group.

I usually spend winters in Oceanside but my 750 is in NH. I ride my goldwing out in late October and return in the spring...usually... Got stuck here this year..
This past year I've been helping a friend on his 74 750 in Oceanside to bring it back to life after it's 33 year sleep in his father in law's shed in OC. We took it down to the frame and repainted the frame and motor, fixed rat chewed wires under the tank, cleaned the carbs and tank, repaired a busted side cover, replaced some of the bad chrome parts, polished the engine covers and fork legs.
Still have to replace the rubber pucks in the head that were leaking and gaskets, rebuild the front brake parts, fire it up and tires. It's been on hold the past couple months as I've been over in Nevada seeing the kids and grandkids, 7th due next month.
