He probably knows more about Smart Phones than I do.....

Maybe indeed!
Some of my pictures will post but others won't. No rhyme or reason I know of.....

I am keeping the old digital camera batteries refreshed just incase.  I figure another 4 or 5 years I will have this smart phone thing down pat......

IPhone here......

It really should be against the law to give Old People technology.  My Wife just got the Apple Watch that is connected to her phone.  I am sure that is going to end up in a "FUBAR" scenario.  At least it was a freebie from my IT Manager Son-in-Law so no harm-no foul.......

I have two rear wheels for my project.  I used the worst of the two to experiment with bearing removal.  Heat, WD40, so forth, but lets just face it, not an easy task.  The lip of the bearings are very difficult to reach with a punch or chisel due to the sleeve between the bearings, some suggest bending the sleeve for better access, but in my case the prongs came loose and since they are pressed on, I don't know if a repair is possible, but both rear wheel bearings were finally knocked out.  Removal of the hub bearing is piece of cake, great access, knocked it out with a right sized socket.

I looked it my good wheel last evening and decided, the good Lord made tools for a reason.  When Harbor Freight opened this morning I was standing there with my Christmas gift card in hand.  I now own a blind hole bearing remover tool, the slide hammer type.  I will probably use it once a year if I am lucky, but no more beating with a hammer and punch and inventing new curse words.....

I have hit the point in the build where when you enter the house at night you are damn dirty.  I still deny putting the black marks on the backdoor facing, don't think the Wife is buying my story.....

The blind wheel bearing puller tool is my new best friend.....

I am still on hold waiting for parts, I swear I believe the USPS has been taken over by sloths.  I going to take a break, watch or sleep through the big game this weekend so I took a couple of hours this morning and picked up and put away the numerous tools and did a general clean up in the garage.  I don't know why I had four 12mm wrenches on the floor, but I very proud of my 6 dollar homemade shock spring compressor tool, worked like a charm.  Have a great Super Bowl weekend one and all....

We are back on the ground, finally have my garage somewhat back. Yes the shocks are just finger tight and the turn signal rack is not connected, (new shocks are supposed to be here tomorrow.)  When you get so far upside down, what's another hit to the check book.  Ordered the wrong size chain link wise, but the cheapo chain break did its job one more time. My Doctor's office also   got a colonoscopy screen set up today, who could ask for more than that.....

Should be just a couple more posts hopefully.  I got carbs with new boots and throttle cables back on last evening and will be renewing the air box today along with the shocks and other little touches.  I like to hit all of the wire connectors with dielectric grease while they are accessible for example.  Back on the lift for the exhaust system, tins, and seat, and offer a prayer to the vintage cycle Gods and push the button.  (In the old days I would have offered a sacrifice of a couple of smokes and a six pack or two, those were the days.)

I thank everyone who has commented on this little adventure.  At times I am somewhat embarrassed about posting my progress.  There so many on this site who possess so much more talent who turn out show quality machines, while I just put "Lipstick on a Pig".  The process still makes me happy though, there is nothing finer than getting lost in middle of a restoration on a cold winter day, the troubles of the world totally disappear.   I have already started looking for another project but nothing so far, of course there is not a lot of mad money left to work with, but hoping for the best.

Again, thank you for the kind comments.....

Well I am done, bolted the used headers on today, no directions and had to scratch my head a couple of times, but finally figured the lay out.  Checked everything one more time, put some gas in the tank, set the choke, and it fired immediately.  Took it around the block a couple of times, runs beautifully, very little hesitation, and pulls like a freight train.  Need some clutch cable adjustment and a little carb fiddling, but I am a very happy camper.  I am still waiting on the transferred title from DMV, so I am really going to think this one over about putting it up for sale.

Again thanks one and all who commented on this little turn around.  Time to start looking for the next one, but "Big Blue" is finished.....

Don't use wood on puller or compressing tools, could split and cause injury..
The prong things on bearing spacer , only three for  lining up,  the can be beta a bet in the right way to grip tube again..
You don't gend tube , you just push it over the prongs should bend out of the way.

Never say you are done until it rolls out of the driveway onto the new owners trailer.  Installing a Dynatek Electronic Ignition this weekend, with new high output coils, spark plug leads, and solid state rectifier/regulator.  I have always used the Charlies Place System in my other bikes, but got the whole Dyna system at a good price from 4 into 1.  I really like how you set the static timing using the far advance mark, looking forward to seeing how the system performs.

Starts a lot quicker, and sounds good on the bench.  Need to tie down and make the wiring pretty tomorrow.  I also bypassed the starter safety relay, looked like crap and had seen better days....
