Billet stroker crank, Ebay
« on: December 15, 2020, 08:56:36 PM »
I remember seeing someone selling new stroker cranks on Ebay. For some reason I no longer can find the auction.  Anyone have knowledge of the seller?,

RPE racing in Australia had billet stroker crank on eBay before.

Here a link to another eBay add, not stroker. Possible to ask seller about billet stroker crank.

Hugh Robinson (RPE Racing) was doing all that stuff for years, and does great work, but he went bankrupt when his wife left him, and as part of their settlement, took his workshop and all his equipment. He's now got a smaller workshop in Bathurst, and I bought my cast iron discs from him this year.

Rex Wolfendon (TRex Racing) was building 1200-1300cc CB750's for racing 20 years ago, but CB750's can't handle that sort of power reliably, and usually one thing will break after another. If you want a Jap bike that will make massive horsepower reliably buy a Kawasaki Z1-KZ1000, or Suzuki GS-GSX1000-1100. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Divorce settlement explains a lot. He likely sold what inventory he had on hand. I was just looking at a few options for a possible build. Wintertime crazies have already set in and a stroker engine came to mind. Of course you're right that more power can be gained for less money by building  KZ or GS. I built 4 Kz based dragbikes that we currently race in various classes.  The bikes run from low 9 seconds to high 7 second ETs.

Divorce settlement explains a lot. He likely sold what inventory he had on hand.

It was really messy actually, his wife took control of the workshop and all of the equipment, plus some customers engines, and sold everything, so he had guys chasing him to get their stuff back, of which he had no control. I hope that he's gonna get back to doing all the stuff he did before that fiasco, because he's a brilliant engineer.

The cast iron discs are great, and I used his main bearings in my K0 engine build, and years ago he back cut some gears for me, but I never used them, they sat in a box for years until I sold all my hotrod engine stuff to some young guys here who were building a drag bike. I'd definitely recommend his work, and hopefully the divorce settlement dramas are behind him now and he can make a success of it. ;D

Thats a tough break for someone who's built up a business with his own hands. Perhaps he will get back to his art one day. She may have taken his earthly fortune,  but he still has his God given gift within his mind.

I'm sure the time away from racing during the winter off season will bring other thoughts to my mind on engine/bike builds. I like to stay busy or I'll get complacent and not be ready when the season kicks off. I need to make a few changes to my Kawasaki dragbike. I'll put that stroker crank money to use one way or another.  😆

That's a great pic mate, I'd love a stroker crank for my 1428cc Arias big block engine, just for the hell of it. I think APE do them, but I've spent way too much money on this engine as it is, and the bike I've built it for hasn't turned a wheel yet due to my Honda fetish getting in the way a couple of months ago. Would be fun though, having a 1600-1700cc engine in the old KZ1000 though. ;D

The engine in this bike is 1500cc. GPZ head with 44/35 titanium valves, straight intake spigots, Cammotion .507/.485 cams, race build GPZ crank 1,2,3 auto 5 speed with a slider clutch.

Uhhhhhh, Kenny has something up his sleeve for BIG valve heads........  just sayin and yeah, I know, I need to get out there too. We'll see how this spring progresses once I return and get to the 1000. Then there's the issue with my little Subaru pulling a bike on an open trailer 1600 miles too. Thinking of a Tahoe perhaps. Then of course you'd need to show up a day earlier for test and tune for lessons on that sticky #$%*....  just sayin again........

Nice! Mine was built from a set of 1978 KZ1000 cases, has a Z1 welded and balanced crank, APE studs top and bottom, the Arias block and pistons, ported GPZ1100 head with stock valves, and Norris .425 cams. Gearbox and clutch is stock, except for heavy duty springs. I haven't installed it yet, but I've got 40mm Mikuni flatslides, Dyna 2000 ignition, and Moriwaki exhaust. Not anywhere as scary as yours, but should be good fun on the road. ;D

I built this bike to compete in the 8.88 index class. 1325cc engine with a ported KZ 1000 head, Webb .480/460 cams, KZ900 cases with a Mk2 crank, undercut transmission and a MTC multistage clutch, 40mm Lectron.carbs.  Its nitrous oxide assisted of course. Quickest pass has been an 8.59@160mph.. Runs lows 9s on horsepower. I plan to install an MTC Gen2 clutch over the winter time and bored it to 83mm/1425cc. I've got a longer swingarm to put on it also.
