All OEM units were painted silver on the CB72 and CB77 models shipped to the US............but only a few anal individuals know this ;)

I have wondered about this...I cannot find any factory borchures or old pictures to verify this.  My CB77 very much seemed original in regards to paint and rust and the Tail light bracket was black.

Heres a link to my build thread....gonna start it up again soon... http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,162873.0.html

The attached American Honda Motor Co. Brochure shows the same.  For sure not trying to question your knowledge...I just cannot find any other reference to it being silver

Cheers, Joe

This is from February

Pause, more to come.
Pause is over. Here's some comparo of NOS chainguard (grey) Original one on this bike (white) with repair. The fixer put a little dogleg in it, I don't know why. And one from a parts bike (chrome). This was kept flat.

Joe made a handy dandy tool for forcing the shock bushings out. A long bolt, some fender washers and two sockets, one diameter to press on the outside of the bushing, and one a little larger for the bushing to go into. A little bit of heat and they came right out.

We'll be replacing the swingarm bushings which were phenolic with these bright shiny pieces. That's to satisfy my desire for bright shiny pieces since this won't be all chrome like Phaedrus is.

I have sometimes glued a thin layer of nylon on the backside of a welded tab.........then paint.......and add a nylon or rubber washer between the bolt-head and guard.
+1 to this one: I saw it often on already-welded rear supports, too.
It's either the vibration of the engine resonating through the swingarm (like a tuning fork?) or the smallness of the thin-section metal back there that lets them suffer and break. Many were simply removed.

Does anyone else remember "SuperHawk knee", a painful condition on the back of the knee after struggling to start the front-kicker after a winter's sojourn? I had forgotten all about it until I saw your pictures, Ron.

Saldana Racing Products made that for me. They of many Phaedrus parts.  The engine stand is garden variety static stand.  The lift is hydraulic.

Yes, it (front kick) is odd and unique. That's what the electric start is for.

I've got lots of updates to do, way behind on posting. The frame and tank and all body parts are finished at the powdercoaters in all white, as it was originally.

Hi,

Nice bike !, Especially to be found on a SOHC4 forum. For many years I was active on the Honda305 forum under the names jensen and jensey, but that forum is dead (like many others since FB).
I have a few CB72's and CB77's, a C77 dream, next to my CB400F (rebuild thread here on this forum, which I started again after 11 years : http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,65233.0.html).

Next to my CB450 K0, my CB77 '67 is one of my daily riders. A great bike to ride. Following this thread, and if you have any questions, just ask, I have all the manuals, part manuals you can think off.

When I was a motorcycle snob, (long time ago) my cousin had one and I wasn't impressed. Now that I'm better informed, I wish I had talked him out of it. He lived 3 1/2 states away and passed from covid last week. No idea what happened to it, and I would never ask now.

Looks great Ron.  Two questions:

1.  Who is the expert painter? [just curious]
2. Is that a HF engine stand?  [I need one]
