I was looking at pictures again, is tank painted yet? Be sure you protect the tank from gas being able to work its way under the paint. On our CBs we sand the paint off on the neck and apply a stripe of epoxy where the paint and bare metal meet near the seal. That way vapors or fuel cannot worm its way under the paint in time ruining our costly paint work.

Everything has been powder coated white. The tank s in great shape. Joe treated it with a product from Eastwood.  That's what the most recent pics of the tank opening are showing, no rust at all.

It's not paint, its powder coating by Indy Powder Coating. They sandblasted the bits then coated it and baked it on.

The engine stand is a run of the mill auto engine stand available from Harbor Freight etc. I had a machine shop make a bracket to hold the engine by the rear two moto mounts, then bolts to the stand where the auto adapters would go. They charged me $75.

Yes it was, looks like piece of candy!  I see I don't have a good pic of it. I'll get one this weekend and post it.

BTW: Sandblasting and powder coating every piece cost $500. A deal in my book.

I have sometimes glued a thin layer of nylon on the backside of a welded tab.........then paint.......and add a nylon or rubber washer between the bolt-head and guard.

That reminded me:  I did this to mine, too. Actually, drilled it out bigger when it first cracked, then put a rubber grommet thru it with a shoulder bolt and washer on the top, holding it sorta loosely. It never gave me trouble again after that. Mine didn't seem to be aligned very well, putting sideways pressure on the rear tab when the front bolts were snugged down? I seem to remember bending the 'middle' bolt's sheet metal (on the guard) in or out one way to try to align the rear tab better, but didn't like how it came out, hence the rubber grommet thingie...I also remember 'ovalling' the front hole, using a 1/4" drill bit in an electric drill (Hand mill?), but don't now remember the 'why' of it.

Boy, Ron, you're sure stirring up the memories with this one! :D

Ron and Joe, what happened to this thread?

We've missed some work sessions due to covid, work schedules etc.  I can't seem to get my head around posting pictures. I've got a lot to post. I personally can't do any work myself. My neuropathy/ multi system atrophy has me in a wheel chair and I am just a looker on. I have to rely on CBJoe and BBB (Build Buddy Bruce) for progress. But progress will happen. Stay tuned!

My brother saw a guy riding a SuperHawk around yesterday. There are a couple likely suspects, I'll keep an eye peeled for it.

Now for a little text.
The 4th one down is the parts to be powder coated (done) except the side covers. We forgot to include them in the batch. The PC place still had the white powder coat so it matched p perfectly.
